    spam on YE

It seems like there is more spam on YE then ever. Sure, there is no more spam bots posting 30 posts about Nike's for sale.
But I would guess there is a three-fold increase in manual spam with people coming here to pitch random businesses, selling crap, and of course my favorite... offering business financing "because everyone rejects giving money to small businesses".
Any way to slow this down? It's only going to get worse as YE continue to advertise.

I don't really see this as spam. These are real people taking the time to come to our community looking to sell their product, and not bots just putting ads everywhere. We should however have a system in which a user must have a certain amount of post to do such a thing so that anybody that doesn't can have their post removed and be warned. If they continue to post incorrectly they should be banned from the forums. But putting a thread up on this site about my business has helped me ten fold, and I would like to think that in the little time that I have been here I have helped some people as well.

These people are coming here with 0 posts, signing up, then posting the exact same thing, copy and pasted, in 2 or 3 threads at a time. This is definately spam.

Someone coming here to pitch you a website to get financing because it's the only place nice enough to give you loans is spam. Are they adding any value to the forum? Are they helping you learn about entrepreneurship or answering any questions, or even posting any questions? Are they even ever going to come visit this site again after they post a couple quick spam threads?

If this is the type of stuff you want to see on this website, I guess we have a much different opinion on the purpose of this forum.

Do you suggest making some of the members deputy admins?

    Josh,

I agree that it is spam, I thought you were just talking about people who come here and make their first post about themselves. I agree that we need to have a more active group of moderators that this spam can be removed quickly and that the users can be banned.

There is no way to prevent "manual" spam as that is a different posts each time. What I have now should be blocking most spam, I myself, haven't seen any while I browse which is a standard GMT day...

There is a little explanation point on the left side of someones post. Just click it and report it as a spam post. Thats what I do, it seems to work sometimes.

I abstultely agree. Some people type the same repetitive message to answer someone in the post. But like josh said, it usually just copy and pasted all over the board. The person never really answers or talks about anything related to the post. They just spam all over the place.

Craigslist has a program, so you cant post the same thing twice, or worded similar. Is there anything like this you could put in place, that would work?

Im not against anyone advertising their business at all. Come share your ideas, show us what you got. But repetitve mis-informing posts dont belong here.

Yes, I do report them sometimes with the symbol in the lower left too. But by the time I do, it has already annoyed me. There should be something to prevent them from being posted. For instance, something like what Lisa said, where a user can't write the same thing twice in a row.

    Hi there Joshua,

Thanks for your posting. I feel that the spam situation has definately improved since the launch of the new site. We have integrated several anti-spam codes which are working. The trick is keeping up with the new spam blockers which we are constantly looking into now. The bulk of the spam posts seem to come from the classifieds section, true?
Also, please PM both myself and Nick R if you don't mind with any new spam that you see over the next 24 hours so we can diagnose the problem and fix it immediately.

    Thanks for your concern.

Just to update this, you need to pay to be able to post in the classified section. This is not for personal profit but to deter most people from posting unless it is high quality work.

    Hi Jasaunders,

Talking about NIKE, just on a lighter note, I'm sure nobody sells this kind of "NIKE" shoes here! See below pic!

I wonder how NIKE or the NIKE sellers will react when they see this! Even the tick is also" modified"!

Yeah. Haha! There's a lot of interesting sights in China. Once I was at this restaurant and popcorn was literally translated from Mandarin to English as "Explode the RiceFlower"! LOLROF... Will post some pics soon for sharing...
