Spam in the forums

Is it just me or is spam really bad in the forums? Like, I am really beginning to get confused as to which thread is spam and which thread is genuinely a real topic.

Seriously, who the hell wants to sell mysterious tibetan art, and if someone does, I think one thread for that topic is more than enough.

I agree.. all the links with r=356346 or whatever their referrer thing is, we are young entrepreneurs we wont be visiting them... it always baffles me.. the same thing is on phpBB.com the forum community in which the majority will be forum admins but still people spam there?? Website admins are not going to be interested in your forum when they have their own to keep going.. lol.. just food for thought

I have noticed loads of spam in the forums and i can't wait to see some promotions around here, its vital becuase i think that we will see some members leaving and i know some who have and are spending time on another ''forum'' - the longer members around here will know who launched the new forum and will know who it is. I don't want to go into to much details but im sure the newer members around here, will of heard about it.

Anyways the mods need to promote about 2/3 people to clean up all the spam and make a few more sections such as the MLM section becuase, thats filling the forum nowadays. Hopefully after this has been all done, we can have a clean forum which is mainly spam free(we have to give alittle leaverage to the new mods ) and newer members will stay, get dvice and hopefully we can attract alot more newer members to the forum becuase we sohuld have alot more members then the forum currently has.

hmmm yes a link to my non profit, ad free blog in my signature? Explain that one as spam please we are talking about the ones that blatently post up referal links and the likes and try to benefit financially from us.

I had actually been on this forum a while ago under a different username, but got fed up and joined YGG, however Im back now and hopefully matters can be addressed.

I feel nik would be a good choice as a mod.

I agree with you, he has no clue! So here's a clue: spam is a post that contains links to one's site for the express purpose of getting folks to click the link and purchase the product or service advertised therein. Spam is not a signature.

This site is better maintained than most. I can't stand spam all the time. Which is also why i'm glad and have stayed here because this forum does not have a network marketing section. Thats what the majority of it is.

Ok, i haven't read all the replies yet, but as soon as I saw "England forever" post, I had to remind people that "links in signatures are not considered spam", I have never been on any forum that it has been considered spam and I am sure alot of people (if not all) would agree with me.

I won't even get into detail as to why, as I think its just common sense, and comparing that with people posting a completely stupid thread about nothing multiple times in a forum is just plain insulting.

Hello everyone.
Well i hope you will still speak to me after that ? i seemed to have upset a few with my comment about SPAM ?
I must admit i was under the impression that SPAM was adding a link at the end of a posting for the purposes of directing someone to a website ?
If this is not the case then why does Wanadoo ( now Orange ) dump all the mail from people who send e mails to my personal address which has a website in them, and dump them in a folder marked SPAM ?
I am here to learn
