The judge said that she could of payed in cash, blah blah blah. We only got $300 back because that is what she owed us for the design. He didn't give us the rest of the money because he said that our stories were unclear.

That job cost me about 1,000 out of my pocket for supplies and labor. I wish i would of lost only $300. But oh well, life is a learning lesson. Like i said, always take a deposit no matter who it is. This happened to me many many years ago, I was not very careful. I just learned from it and I take care of my jobs in a more careful manner

That sucks. I would have thought that you could have showed a routine of giving receipts to customers and put the burden on her to provide a recept. But that's in the past. As long as you learned from it, then it was a valuable lesson.

I did give a receipt, for the deposit only because thats what she paid me for, but since she never paid me the rest obviously i didn't have a receipt. When we got to court the judge didn't even ask for a receipt. He didn't really care about the situation, i guess she just got lucky!

I guess deposit didn't cover that much. I take it you would switch the station if you hear her come on?

That sounds extremely, extremely odd to me. Extremely.
Why did you get $300?

You can always appeal the small claims court's decision.

I got $300 from her in court because the judge said that there was evidence that the design was complete. The total design cost was $600. She gave me a $300 deposit and he made her give me the rest of the money for the design. Since she had no receipt of the van being printed, and we had no pictures of it, there was no proof that the van was ever printed and installed.
Yes I would change the station very quickly if she ever came back on it!

I wanted to appeal but the judge said it wasn't worth it because we didn't have that person that overlooks the case, i dont know what that person is called. I forgot, this was about 4 years ago. I just took it the best i could, what goes around comes around. she was in debt anyways and was in a big mess of problems. I just decided to let that go and avoid that problem from ever happening again.

That doesn't make much sense to me. If "there was no proof that the van was ever printed on and installed," then you shouldn't have gotten the additional $300. If you were warranted in getting the additional $300, then the judge decided that you actually did the work and didn't get paid, and you should have gotten the remainder as well. Either she paid already and you get nothing, or she didn't and you get everything.
Granted I don't know all the facts, but if everything you're saying is true, you got screwed big time and should look into appealing the decision. What you're saying happened makes absolutely no sense at all.
And no "person that overlooks the case?" What are you talking about here?

I don't understand your last post. "that person that overlooks the case", what are you talking about?
Anyone can appeal the verdict of a small claims case. You could also have been more prepared for court.
But anyways, this is four years ago. Have you been this distrusting of people for the last four years? That's not a healthy way to go through life.
