Question Should I drop out of school?

Im 18 going into my second year of university. I have the ability (and have in the past) to get good grades when I take the time to go to study and attend lectures. ..but I dont like to! ..especially when I know that it all leads to some degree that'll get me a job working for someone else.

Ive started two ventures and both are going very well! Ive learned a lot on the way and had lots of fun doing so! I love entrepreneurship, especially more than any job I could have in the future!

I'm a risk taker, I'm not afraid of failure and overall I'm determined to succeed. I obviously still live with my parents so I can afford to take countless amounts of risks for the next 3-5 years!

I dont want to keep stressing my parents, wasting their money and wasting my time.

Is it such a bad idea to finish my second year and then call it quits?

    What do I do!?

Ill be honest thats your choice...

College education is great and is icing on the cake, but its not required to start a business.

I choose to go into business when i was 14, im 27 now... i do wish i went to school part time at 18 ,and even if it took 6 years or 7 years to get a degree i would have it by 25?

So if i was u.... i would goto school part time, theres no rush.. do Business and school

Let your two ventures pay for your education and focus on automating your businesses as much as possible, so you can do the good grade bit and continue to grow your businesses Perhaps they will see that your time is better spent building your business, where you passion is!

You know the decision rest squarely on your shoulders - so think long and hard, talk with your parents about the situation.

You can always wait a couple of years later to re-start college again. Your credits aren't going anywhere!

Its a question that only you can really answer,i have to admit i left school at the earliest possible time and as long as i could 'reeadd and wrritte' it was the best move ever in my opinion. Its been a very long time since i left school and i admire people who do go onto higher education but this is only my opinion i wanted so badly to succeed in business and nothing was going to stop me.These days i really enjoy life to the full and i would not wind the clock back or do anything differant from what i have achieved.

Good luck in what ever you choose to do.

If your businesses can be run next to university, I think university is a great chance to learn more about things you're interested in. It also gave me a good look at different cultures and such, hanging around with people I would not have normally hung out with much.

If you enjoy uni, go there. If not, don't waste your time. Do what is most fun to you would be my advice. But I had a blast in uni

just curious but how much time does your business require you to commit? i'm in college right now as a 4th year molecular bio major, doing research, and volunteering yet i still have time to continue my entrepreneurship.

You are welcome for the advice (I think I speak for the others as well ). And remember that it doesn't matter if you take longer to graduate university.

I took a whopping 9 years to get my masters due to running my business in parallel (well, and some other stuff ). But in the end it doesn't matter if you do what you love in those 9 years.

Although I can promise you it will be hard to finish that last year Takes some backbone to get through that one...

One thing you have to remember is that school has plenty of networking opportunities too.

I'd suggest at the very least going to school part time just in case business does get slow. I know plenty of people myself included, who still manage their ventures while in school full time. I find it to be extremely rewarding to do both.

I suggest that you go to school part time and concentrate more on your business, because it will , make you money money in the long run. Plus you will find more satisfaction, in own your own business than working in someone else's!

I understand what everyone is saying, BUT:

There's nothing wrong with a "break" from school. If you take one year off to work really hard on a startup, great things might happen. If not, go back to school. Many universities actually encourage this type of behavior.

However, this is ONLY if you need to work on your startup full-time. If you don't have such a venture, then by all means, STAY IN SCHOOL

There is a lot to consider, your current income, how much college costs... and if you can justify dropping out based on those two reasons you might as well..

What would be the main reason you would stay? Because if that reason is not 100% about you, than you would be making the wrong decision..

Too many factors to consider but if you're in school to be in school, then no. The good thing about university, is you can take a break and continue anytime you want. Why not just take a break?

I dropped out and I don't regret it one bit. I focused on business, that piece of paper wasn't going to get me anywhere. It's about who you know.

I've never been a fan of their outdated teaching practices.
