    Response Poll

What's everyone's magic number in terms of what they consider the tipping point in which they never have to work again because of the need of money but rather because they choose to work, money or no money. I'm sure many are pursuing their passion so they may not consider it work anyway but regardless, I'm sure they can't do that for free with no profit because they're not at that point yet. So being realistic, what is YOUR magic number. Could be a flat number like $10 million or it could be a simple monthly number like $5000 a month.

Please don't be retarded and post something like $1 billion or $100 million. That's just lavishing beyond your needs. I realize the word need is a very subjective term to begin with but to live your ideal life within reason, for the type of house you want, the lifestyle you desire, what is that number. And no, excessive numbers far exceed that value. Just curious what everyone is after monetary wise.

Here is something to give you perspective. The average job in the US probably pays somewhere around $30,000 (random estimate; I'm not going to look up actual figures). Of course cost of living and wages/salary varies by cities and states. But regardless, in all states, $100,000 can be considered a lot by many. So let's go with that. Retirement age is typically 67. If we round it up, we can estimate the number of working years a human typically works through till retirement is 50 years give or take. 50 years times $100,000 is $5 million. If you're smart with your spending, you can live a lavish life on that amount. Most obviously get into debt and overspend unnecessarily. But for all intent and purposes, everyone's lifestyle is different so maybe you do need a lot more than that. Just wanted to put that $5 million into perspective for your responses.

    Either $5k/month of a flat $2M

I feel like with $2M, I can invest and make ~$4-6k a month - with some time/effort of course.

The question is do you want to be filthy rich or have a controlled lifestyle.

For instance, I would much rather make $5k/month and work 5 hours/week over making $50k/month and working 50 hours/week -- does that make sense?
I'm a partner at a Baltimore, Maryland SEO company who loves to invest as much money as possible - both in the stock market as well as into my growing agency!

If you're young - NOW IS THE TIME TO INVEST into the stock market -- you will be very happy in 20-50 years, when you retire on a fat stack of cash!
