Real Letter From CEO To His Employees

Real Letter From CEO To His Employees

Very interesting read about the changing government and economy.

    Check it out!

Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the mud of America are the essential drivers of the American economic engine.

Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep. So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more. Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire.

You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.
If you want to be rich, sell products and services.
If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.
I must create a system or be enslaved by another mans; I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.

Now I want to know what happened next, I think if he was my employer I would start looking for another job. Who wants a man that's not even willing to fight to keep his business going. But I mean at least he was polite. LOL

As found on the company's website (sorry for the all caps, don't really feel like retyping it...but at least it isn't in bold red like it was on their site ):

IN REFERENCE TO THE "TO ALL MY VALUED EMPLOYEES" LETTER CURRENTLY CIRCULATING THE INTERNET:

THIS LETTER WAS FORWARDED TO MICHAEL CROWLEY BY A COLLEAGUE. WHILE THE LETTER MAY INDEED BE AUTHENTIC, HE WAS NOT THE AUTHOR AND HE DOES NOT KNOW THE IDENTITY OF THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR. MR. CROWLEY'S CONTACT INFORMATION WAS MOVED INTO THE BODY OF THE MESSAGE MAKING IT APPEAR THAT HE WAS THE AUTHOR OF THE LETTER. IF YOU CHOOSE TO FORWARD THIS MESSAGE, PLEASE REMOVE ANY CONTACT INFORMATION BEFORE DOING SO.

From the look of their site and the breadth of their services offered, I'd guess that it really wasn't that guy who wrote the letter as the letter mentions 14 employees. Could be wrong though.

I think you missed the point. He doesn't mind fighting to keep his business open, he's done it for 12 years. What he doesn't want to do is struggle to keep his company going while a majority of his hard earned money is going to welfare checks. Call it selfish or greedy but if I sacrificed what he did to get where he is and then had to turn my money over to lazy people who don't want to work, I would feel the same way.

The letter was geared towards Americans. The UK has ruinous taxes, one of the most ruinous tax schemes in the world. In the US it varies greatly by state. If you live in California, you are subject to horrible taxes, but if you pack your bags and settle in Nevada, a move similar to moving between eurozone countries except less of a hassle, you can dramatically slash every tax except federal. In the Reno metro area, the differences are especially absurd-Truckee residents pay heavy taxes, yet drive 20 miles to Verdi and the tax burden dramatically lightens. No customs, no guards, no searches. Both towns are in the same metro area according to the US census, but Truckee is in California and Verdi is just inside Nevada.

When Americans talk of taxes, they are usually referring to national (federal) taxes. The differences are much less stark in the eurozone, where all states have to adopt similar tax regimes. In addition, the UK neglected to become a Euro currency country, so the pound is worth more than the euro, so it's difficult for UK people to move to the eurozone. The UK has a vast welfare system and large numbers of nobles with their hands in the pie, so taxes must be much higher. The US is far stingier with welfare and has no legal nobility, so taxes are lower. America's rich need to resort to under the table means of draining the govt's pockets.

Britain traditionally has never valued entrepreneurs, who were always seen as a threat to the landed gentry, so the government doesn't want you starting a business. The US doesn't have a landed gentry in the English way, so it wants people to start businesses. During some periods, like the Gilded Age, that changed, but it reverts eventually.

I actually find that letter pretty insulting to my intelligence. First, I believe it is phony and did not originate from any successful CEO. Second, to think that we readers are so gullible as to eat up all the negative I'm-a-victim-small-business-owner sentiment being spewed.

Let me tell you that I started a business from zero and built it to a $2M company as of year-end '08 earnings. So, I'm just like the so-called "CEO" (I dont have as many employees though). I pay a ton of taxes: I pay everything he describes. I withhold employees' federal taxes and deposit them to the IRS on a semi-weekly schedule. I pay the company's half of the payroll taxes (FICA, Soc.Sec., Medicare). I pay uemployment taxes at the Federal and state level. I pay property taxes to my local government for all my computers, machines, furniture, etc. I pay 1120 corporate taxes on company profit.

At the end of the day I earn a decent salary, I create jobs, and I contribute to society through taxes.

If you have gone through the pain of building a company from scratch to moderately successfuly levels, you cannot be so weak-knee'd as to be ready to throw in the towel purely based on a hypothetical political outcome. I'll bet the real CEO is working his bottom line all day long while some pretender is spending his hours wasting away at spewing bitterness and divisive garbage. The real CEO is not giving up. He will work through whatever comes his way and he will succeed.

If jobs are lost, it's primarily due to the business climate and your company's inability to generate enough margin with which to re-invest in resources. It is not due to "too much tax". If your business doesn't work because the taxes eat up all your profit, then your business model sucks.

I'm the last person that wants high taxes. I want reduced corporate taxes, reduced personal 1040 taxes, I want the section 179 limits to be increased, and I love watching Kudlow on CNBC. I'm as conservative as you could get when it comes to entrepreneurship. However, when I see this "letter from a CEO" garbage, it makes me sick. It actually makes real CEOs and business owners look bad. How could any legitimate executive be so small and petty as to write such a crybaby letter to his employees? How could you respect a CEO like that? WHAT A JOKE. This letter is a total fake. Trust me!
