I have a question for all the real estate guru's out there. I live in a supposed "low-income" apartment, but lately rent has been looking a bit ridiculous lately.
Here is the entire story:
Back in January 2007, I was employed (hired) by Wal-Mart. I resided here until May 2007 when I injured my shoulder. I was taken out of work for 3 days and within' the 3 days, I was fired because of "mis-communication." Anyway, in that time my mom (since I reside my mom for the time being, I am still a young person) learned that she lost her subsidized housing.
They stated so many different reasons which all sounds bias in my opinion on why she lost her subsidized housing. Here are a few:
1. Her rent exceeded $600 monthly
2. She was paying rent with 2 sources of income for more then 6 months (you do the math, I was only at Wal-Mart for 5 month.)
3. She didn't utilize her subsidized housing in 3 months so they gave it to another person who needed it. For God's sake, we didn't know that action was needed to use subsidized housing.
Anyway, they keep giving bullshyt excuses and my mom hasn't spoken with Equal Housing Authorities YET but is the apartments really allowed to do this. They say we've lost our subsidized housing and now we CAN'T GET IT BACK AS LONG AS WE LIVE HERE. Need I remind you our rent is almost $550 now (compared to the $380 back in January.)
Also, I am going to get a job today and was thinking about moving out but they said even if I moved out, her rent would still be $550 a month. At the same time, the rent is NOT including utilities (electric bill) or any of that. And our house was broken into a few months ago and the whole frame of our back door is damaged and they have YET to come back and fix it. The maintenance people don't hardly do any work, the crime is bad and yet were paying $550 a month for rent.
Is there any way that they could of possibly taken our subsidized housing? How or how not? Where can I go to learn more about the subsidized housing program?
