Protect a patent

I've got a brilliant idea (well, I think so), but I have no buisness background and really require some direction. In particular, I would like to know who to speak to about wording my patent in such a way that it covers my idea broadly to avoid plagiarism.

I'd suggest researching on Google. Many entrepreneurs have exactly the same problem as you so there's some good advice and tips out there.
