pet supplies just not that popular

This is what I am, this is what I love. But this sure is turning out to bea lot of work. I do not mind work. I will do whatever it takes to make this work. I am not looking to make thousands a week. Heck I do not care if I made thousands a month. I am just looking to get good products on the store and just working my way up from there. Join here, join there. Fifty bucks here eightyfive there. Once you a subscribed to our programs you will find thousands of products to sell. /sigh I understand it takes money to make money. But there is a way to work your way up without having to invest like that, I am sure of it. I do not have the money to buy these lists or sign up with these programs. There is not really any point in this post, I just wanted to rant a little I guess.

When will you be able to sell? As far as the forums and community aspect you might have a tough time beating out sites like dogster.com and catster.com. The way to not spend all that money is to find a whoelsale distributor of products. Go to a local pet store, read the label on product and clal the company. If it doesnt work then suck it up. Your running a store with physical inventory so of course you are taking on alot of financial risk. I think your post reasoning is backwards, it isnt that the product isnt popular, it is that there are already 1000 companies doing the same thing. Think of it this way if there is a place that sells memeberships to their warehouse inventory imagine how many people are selling the exact same thing you want to. Those companies make all their money from sellers like you. Then you look one step down the supply chain, at sellers like you, and there are 1000 people all selling the same stuff. the model works with physical locations because as long as you are not near competition you can sell the same products to the people in your area. But on the net its like you and those other people all have storefronts lined up next to each other. I would try and find small companies doing the same thing you are. Trying to get exposure. List some of their inventory and expose the public to their new product while exposing them to your product. Your in a market that is saturated, your not going to get customers just by putting the same old product on the net, the point is find some little way to be different. As far as customers make a small catalog and try and get some exposure to your local community. Build up awarness with people you can have a conversation with. I know it might seem crazy as an internet based business owner, but open you shades and walk outside for a while.

Dont give up, just dont sell the same thing as everyone else and expect to turn a profit. get creative. Also change your signature quote, maybe stick it on a bumper sticker not your business card.

Ok, well i have a few tips.

Depending on where you are based i know where to get some good stock.
My mum sells designer dog and cat collars. I know the site to go to.

England:
PetLondon
Pucci

America:
Rhinestonedogcollars - http://www.rhinestonedogcollars.net/

Those products sell well! The whole pamper your pet is in! Petlondon and Pucci both do wholesale prices. I am not sure about Rhinestone, we have only ordered 40 odd of them.

I see you haven't began selling pet supplies yet, like some of the previous people my advice is to find a niche, if your niche is going to be high end and expensive pet supplies then you should revamp your website.

Pay for PPC, but target hundreds of less popular keywords (with uncompetitive results), if you target enough keywords you'll pull a reasonable amount of traffic without paying the price for the most popular searches.

You can't start thinking negatively just yet, get some products.

Waiting to start selling until I get all legal things taken care of such as tax id numbers and so forth. Still looking for suppliers also

Do you only need pet suppliers or more?

You can view all of their categories and products on our site, but we recommend LNC. If you need data support for the inventory then I can let you know of some additional resources to quickly get your site up to speed.

Why the f**k do people pay for supplier lists/information?
Suppliers are not hiding from you! They want your business.

Go to the supermarket, and look on the tins/bags who makes/distributes the supplies - then ring them.

Actually I don't think the problem here is with suppliers, it is about marketing. Of course if you are only prepared to work online then you are going to find this hard work, but even then there are things that you can do to stand out from the crowd. Have a look at my website www.ideas2earn.com under finding customers. If you have already tried everything then drop me an email and I will be happy to make some more suggestions. It is a great idea and one that I will be covering shortly....you CAN make money at it. Keep going buddy.
