Outsourcing international shipping

ok... so this just ran thru my head so i thought id make a quick thread about it and see if some answers could arise.

As most of you know a huge percent of stores online are just dropshipped products. Im not talking about the rip off drop ship companies, etc. Im talking about huge distributors, manufactuers, etc.

Many distributors wont ship internationally. Now this is a huge market a online store that may be using this distributor to drop ship the products have lost.

Is there shipping companies in the US that ship products overseas for companies?

For example a warehouse is say NY dropships for a store but they wont ship internationally. Now if there was a shipping company that would ship products for you the owner of the store could just ahve the box dropshipped to the shipping company and they would ship it overseas.

Obvioulsy theres many many negatives to this system... and if you wanted this system for your own store you could just have the products dropshipped to you and then you ship the products internationally.

But i just thought id post here and see what you guys thought.

Interesting...

I wouldnt go ahead and say your losing a huge market because you cant get international dropshipping. Remember the net is more than global now so its very rare that a product/service your offering online won't be offered online from that country already. Also I was told by a distributor that a large percent of the orders are fraudulent and theres more work involved. If its a business where you need international orders to survive than insist on them dropshipping (maybe after you establish a good relationship). I wouldnt suggest you have the products shipped to you and then you ship them, look how much time that would take, your customers would be waiting forever. Unless you used express but then thats more expensive.

Your better off trying to get your distributor to dropship internationally. Lets take your warehouse in new york example. The warehouse/distributor dropships it for you right but remember they use an outside company to take care of their shipping needs. That company more than likely does ship internationally because they are a shipping company. Its your warehouse however that refuses to place the order internationally and therefore you can't get international shipping.

That's my two cents....
