Anyone heard or applied for that program before? Are they really hard to get selected?
Also what should I look into when writing my business plan?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey Nick,
I've looked into this myself, actually as a web host. Ideas sell. This is exactly like getting venture capital: if you want to get accepted, sell your idea with a detailed business plan outlining your idea.
Despite the fact that Summer Company comes with grants, I would much rather start with a bank loan because your Summer Company is just that -- only for the summer. I wouldn't be able to stand pouring myself into a business which had to discontinue operations at the end of the summer.
I hope that helps.

You don't have to discontinue operations at the end of the summer. I'm sure if you wanted, you could indeed go on with your business. Most people chose to go back to school fulltime though.Originally Posted by Brad
I'm still debating whether or not I want to apply this year. I have an idea but I don't like the fact that i'd be restricted from working more than 12hrs during the summer to be eligible to the program.
Skatewhale, you might as well apply. Goodluck!
