    Office Clutter

No matter how much organizing (or de-crapping) I do, my desk is always covered with papers, files, etc. I used to try to file all the papers back into their folders every weekend, but now I have given up. lol. I have a huge desk and a long table in my office and both always have skyscrapers of paper at every corner. I wonder if everyone has this problem or if everyone else is more organized.

I've always had similar issues. I know that there are a lot of organizational experts that can probably give you some advice or systems that might help you out.

There are a lot of tactics that are meant for small business offices.

I am horrible about keeping things straight. I have 3 office spaces with desks and computers in different places in my house, and they all are covered!

Through everything ... that would always work... it is more or less a fresh start think of it that way.

Since I only do business through eBay, I have no use for a desk. I use folders and other organizers like that. But, I know how your schedule is a lot more hours than mine, so you probably don't have the time to sift through certain things and organize them.

All I can suggest to you is to take everything one step at a time. Start one project and make it as productive and lucrative as possible. This way, your mind can be focused on just that. You will have more time to organize and get the job done better.

I try to do as much as I can on the computer. I'm terrible at keeping things organized, otherwise.

I do that sometimes. Obviously, you can't throw important documents away, but some of the papers that build up on my tables are ridiculous. For instance, last October's Wall Street Journal. I just found that at the bottom of one pile.

I do try to keep as much as possible on the computer, but my file cabinets still manage to fill up.

This is an interesting topic you bring up. I always have many, many deals going on at once.

I have heard both sides, some people insist you should only have one project going at a time so you can focus all of your time and energy into that project. I have also heard other people say that you should have at least a few deals going on at once because if you focus all of your time on one project you will have too much riding on that deal and you may become too close to it. I agree with the latter view. I always have many projects going on at once and make sure never to get too attached or risk too much on just one because if that project falls apart, it could send your whole organization into a down spiral.

I probably should have started a new thread for this topic because I am probably hi-jacking my own thread, but what is everybody's thoughts on this? How many projects on average do you have going on at once?

Even though my desk looks like a bomb hit it I can always tell you exactly where everything is. So yes my desk is always an organized mess.... We should all post pictures of our desks... that could be entertaining

Thats why I clutter my kitchen table with all the bills, ads and other stuff that comes in the mail!

We never eat there, and I need a clean desk. Though I have a problem of food piling up since I eat at my desk all the time...
