    Nothing important, just a soapbox

Shouldn't we as competent people and aspiring entrepreneurs be a little more aware of how we use grammar on these boards where we might meet prospective clients and partners?! I mean don't get me wrong, I make all kinds of spelling problems and typeos... but come on folks!! Didn't they teach you the difference between there, they're, the their?? What about no and know? Or to, too, and two? I'm not the grammar nazi or anything, but when I see this sentence:

"I thought since their graduates, they would no the answer."

I just think that person sounds stupid. Sorry for the rant, but it was just annoying me for some reason and I had to get it off my chest. Like I said, spelling prblems and typeos are one thing... but stuff like that makes my eyes cross when I read threads.

I know I cringe when I see people write things like...

    "lol, u'r so rgt. ttyl!"

I'm old enough to have had an actual typing class on real live type writers, but I've come to accept that people don't think in written words when they talk and a forum like this is more like spoken english in people's minds than proper written english.

As people spend more time on discussion boards, I think that their grammer and spelling naturaly improve. It just takes a few times where you get into an argument with someone over something and they make you look stupid by pointing out that you can't spell or form proper sentences.

Just wanted to let you know that your feelings are shared by others.

But it's not even the shorthand. That doesn't bother me even THAT much. It's really just those words that have several different spellings and they are just too dumb to know which one to use.

"just two dumb too no wich one too use"

Is it really that hard? I wen't to a not-so-amazing high school (exept that we won state this year in 5-A woot woot!) and I still know which word to use!

I agree with you 100%! I've gotten many emails and PMs before with poor grammar and spelling, and I tend to discount the credibitlity of the writers of those messages. Nobody's perfect, but most people don't even show an effort.
