    News Media & Negativity

According to all the success advice I've studied, being a positive thinker and an optimist is a major requirement to becoming successful. I don't think it is possible to be successful if you think negatively. Failures are the ones who think negatively. Conversely, if you think negatively, you become a failure.

Therefore, I see any source of negativity as a serious threat to my own success and well-being. I quit watching & reading all the news, because the news media is extremely negative. They are constantly preaching doom and gloom. They are constantly trying to discourage you, make you depressed, and make you worry and be scared. So if you want to be successful and happy, the news media is your ENEMY. The news is to be avoided completely. Also, negative people are a serious problem for the same reason. They discourage you, insult you, make you angry, scared, worried, etc. Also stay away from anybody who is a big whiner and complainer. They are very negative too. Generally speaking, people who complain a lot are losers who don't do anything to solve their problems or improve their lives. They just like to complain and complain and get attention and sympathy.

I'm telling you right now to ignore and disbelieve everything the news media says about the economy. They just like to say bad things because it makes people pay attention. It's good for the news media but bad for you. I sold twice as much this December as I did last December. The news media is always saying that the Christmas sales are bad, but that is nonsense. Your success has nothing to do with the so-called "economy." Your success depends only on you and nothing but you. It depends on things like how good your skills are, how hard you work, how smart your strategies are, and how much you know about your business field. You can always find ways to do much better and to make much more profits, so whatever the horrible news media says about the economy totally does not matter. Don't let them discourage you or make you believe that your sales have to be bad just because they say everything is bad.

The truth is that people LOVE to spend money! It is hard for people NOT to spend money! So they're always looking for things they'd like to spend money on that will give them enjoyment and enhance their lives, and all you have to do is be very good at providing desirable goods or services that they want to buy! I think America is still the biggest marketplace in the world, so all you have to do is be very good at your business and you can make lots of money regardless of what the stupid news media says!

What I do is cut out every negative thing out of my life completely. I only will listen to positive people who will support me mentally and help me be more successful. I also do my best 24/7 to not think negative thoughts inside my head. I try hard not to think about bad memories. I try hard to not think about any doubts or fears. I try to not complain about anything.

When you get rid of all the negativity in your life, it's like dropping a 500 pound weight and growing wings. You can fly and soar. It sets you free to accomplish great things. You do much better in your business and you work much harder when you focus only on your goals and forget everything negative.

I fill my head with positive, encouraging talk. I listen to audio recordings that have helpful, positive advice about how to be successful and I also listen to hypnosis recordings that put positive thoughts in my head and program me to do better.

So as a result of these things, my life is pretty good now and I'm doing better and better all the time. Back when I used to dwell on negative thoughts all the time, I was very depressed and hopeless and not getting anywhere in my life. So I've been on both sides, and I know how important positive thinking is and how harmful negative thinking is.

That's a little extreme, but I agree that the media seems bent on selling ad time by harping on the worst case scenario, and consequences be damned. The idea of a self-fulfilling prophecy doesn't seem to compute with them. Of course, THEY personally are doing ok. It's never the anchors who get fired, but some back room guy. News presenters tend to be extremely arrogant, they bash the economy and then quietly collect a million dollar salary. Yes, the national anchors, as well as those in the top local markets, easily make that.

At this point TV news is good for the local weather, and that's about it. The rest of TV is junk. It's escapism for office droids. For a lot of people, it's a noise and light show. They plop themselves in front of the TV after a 12 hour day slaving away to make some guy far far away another zillion dollars, then just stare at it. I watch the local news about 2-3 times a week, and that's all the TV I watch. I read the Wall Street Journal, and that's about all the news I read. It's harder to tune out negative people in your personal life, especially if they're family. Moving far away can work, but that's about the only thing that does, and not everyone can.
