We all know columbine, virginia tech, and close to home for me, northern illinois.....

I just wanna see if my chicago news has spread nationally yet because of the RIDICULOUS number of student murders in the chicago public school system. In the past 10 days or so, 5 kids 18 and under have been shot, 1 beaten with a baseball bat (in front of police). These kids are coming to heavily policed schools (Simeon, Crane, etc.) with guns and shooting right outta class!

I guess its just a topic of discussion but so far this school year the murder tally of chicago public school kids is at 23 students. Students are missing out on an education that we pay for because they are afraid they may get shot, intentionally or not.

I've been aware of all these instances, but its just exponentially increased in the past couple weeks. But we can't forget about the non-youth murders, gang-violence, Drew Peterson killing all his wives, and the good old Chicago police beating up female bartenders and crippled old men.

Sorry guys, just venting, wtf?

Any feedback would be appreciated, I love this city, but man.........

Yep, it's definately hit me. But I live in Chicago.
If you are out of college at least and you have any desire to help underpriveleged, overachieving high school students in Chicago, let me know.

I think the best answer is that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. People are a product of their environment (that is: the sheople or sheep people). If you're raised with criminals then you can justify taking someone's life a little easier.

It's hard for us to understand because of the positive environment our families surrounded us with.

I genuinely feel bad.

Yea, it's defniately tough. I know some kids who have lost friends to the violence in Chicago. I can't imagine how hard it must be to live in that environment. I strongly admire the ones that are able to make it out and become successful despite having all the odds against them.
