Just the way the world works really.

I'm building a site that is along the lines of MySpace, Rogue Connect - which is similar in the fact that it is also a social networking site, but Rogue concentrates more on fashion and a lot less on music.

My site is really in its infancy, but has been growing extremely well over the past month.

it seems like tom (the creator) was at the right spot at the right time. i mean, the site sucks, there are tons of errors, but everyone loves it, and it got bought by news corp. for a nice chunk of change.

It's an accumulation of all of the terrible geocities pages from the 90's.

It generates lots of advertising revenue...there are ads everywhere. They also have a premium service that you can purchase. When he says that it is "free advertising", he means that the users of myspace can avertise on their own geocities-like page for free. It doesn't cost anything to join the basic service.

I'm surprised they haven't come up with a MySpace "mobile" of sorts, for web enabled cell phones. I remember reading an article awhile back that asked the question "how to bring advertising revenue on cell phones" - well, that could be it.

It would be viral... If one person signs up, they would tell their friends about it and so on... And with it being mobile, people could be checking their myspace anytime/anywhere.

Perhaps creating some sort of software that allows people to easily convert their real MySpace into the mobile format (since each persons MySpace site is basically HTML coding). The only features you would really lose would most likely be sound/music, but the whole idea of MySpace is about checking messages and leaving comments - that's about it. Most of the people I know don't login to checkout music...

CP Mr Ofevaw, as you live in america you should of if you havent heard of Doug Richard, he is very big in the software market and generated most of his cash by buying and selling software companies.

This doug richard might have already thought of this idea and could be working with Peter Jones the owner of Phones International.

If not then you could have found yourself a very good niche and it could make you alot of money.

I was @ a party with this chic from Brazil. She was on something similiar to myspace (right down to the friends list & comments & all that good stuff) called Arkut or Arket or something like that. It seems that the social-networking website craze isn't just here in US, it's very much international.

Interesting how the internet has the power to foster worldwide trends.

oodalay.com is somewhat similar and was created by a teen entrepreneur (who later sold it on ebay). the features are really cool, as well as the design. it appears that it hasn't caught on and i dont think it has many users.

    uhh

good luck on GoBlu by the way...with that said....the social networking thing is on a huge craze there is a wave of MLM-PYRAMID-NETWORKING "home bussinesses" and these sites are cashing in on the one-to-one market. Facebook.com and Myspace.com are the biggest free to use ones. There are a few other pay to use sites. I am wondering how to get in fornt of this wave?? What can I do or sell to people to give them they're shot at running there own business? I am using mpyre communications as such right now offering people the chance to be a "web designer" for no startup cost and only profits.....but for some reason it doesnt seem to be working...any suggestions?

I kno that was alittle off topic sry
