I haven't followed the whole case, since I have no interest in Martha.

However, I think that if she is guilty then she should be punished just as anyone else would. Being a famous entity doesn't excuse her from punishment.

On the other hand, I wonder if she will start a new line of 'make your jail cell pretty' products.

First off, I detest Martha Stewart. I think she's satan incarnate. With that said, she IS a very intelligent woman who used to be a stockbroker. I really can't see her risking an $80 Million empire to make $50K on ImClone. All in all, as much as I hate her, I think she got screwed.

I wonder if she'll decoupage the bars in her cell?

I have to agree with you. She just wasn't thinking at all when she found out th FDA info about Imclone. But the truth is i guarantee 9 out of 10 people would of done the same thing. Its just instinct. Something bad is going to happen to a company you own stock in... and you find out.... you sell it... pure instinct that wasnt thought out at all.

Ive followed the whole ordeal real close until lately because i worked in a trading firm and i honestly have to say the whole thing is a joke.

I know exactly whats going to happen.... and if anyone wants to take bets im all for it

Shes going to write a book about all this stuff that happened to her while she is in Jail/ House arrest and when it end up getting published she will make more money then any other person that has been in prison and probably more money then she would of made just running her company and doing her daily stuff for the next 10 months.

There are a few major deals though... the big one being her comapnies going to be hurting 10 months down the road, but im curious to see how it all goes about.

And last but not least ( i dont know how many people know this) but Imclone is trading above were it was the day before the FDA news came out. The magic of the stock market

She got really bad legal advice.

I agree with everyone's statements and I also do not like her, but I think she got a raw deal.

Her attorney's should have just told her very early on to come clean and get it over. it is like Watergate... the cover up was worse than the act.

TOTALLY 100% AGREED - I don't care how you come across the information - if you're being shown things that blatantly say if you don't sell you're going to loose money, YOU SELL. PERIOD. No if's, ands, or but's about it. What are you supposed to do, sit and think about how it's just not right and that it was your fault for investing in the first place and loosing all that money is the consequence you should pay for that bad investment? Give me a break!!! It should be a crime to think THAT out, a crime when you DONT sell and making a stupid decision like sitting on a stock that you've been shown is going to take a dive.

Personally, I dislike her as a person, not as a business person.

Her character is pretty shallow, and she is just generally not a nice person.

You have to see her other side, as a human, not as a business woman. She is nothing (not even close) to the person she plays on tv.

That is about as polite as I can be.

The point I think we are missing is, if Joe Schmo from down the street did a similiar action, the chances of litigation or a court case are zilch. Since Martha is a big name, they want to set an example of her.

She can longer be CEO of her company (anyone with a criminal record is not allowed to be).

I think her lawyers probably thought things would blow over, using legal premise of other cases and the bankroll Martha has to fight this case.

Looks like the plan backfired. She obviously did make a very bad decision that she has probably regreted multiple times, but I bet 1 yr ago she would of never believed in the end she could no longer be CEO of the empire she has built!

Well, she's still a major stock holder, so its really not much of a loss. Also, are you sure about the criminal record thing? I'm not sure that that is necessarily true, is it?

I wish Mark Burnett would do a reality show based on Martha in prison. Imagine how funny it'd be to see Martha teach a convicted killer how to cook an Almond Brittle Sundae or make no-sew satchets. I'd watch that....

But i digress....

I think her sentence was more than fair....
