Good question. Id never got one before, then all of a sudden about a month ago I started getting them through my website going straight to my 1&1 email account. Now its about 1 or 2 every day. That email is strictly for business so getting emails is usually a good thing...then I get to log in to see that crap. Its not like they provide the courtesy of an opt-out either.

You are right Dale. I see it all the time as a business coach. The good news: many people who have been in business for a while understand that a successful business requires follow through and accountability. Here is a great site for coaching and tools to help entrepreneurs and sales professionals: RevenueBlitz.com

I personally know a person who would constantly fall for these if I weren't in their life. Not to sound proud or anything. What gets me is that he is continually intrigued by each one, it never gets old. Yesterday he received over 1,500 in fake money orders in the mail. Some company randomly picked him via email to trust with processing payments - OOOO KKKK. And no, he didn't cash them. The most recent one was a "money gifting" company that claims when you send in money, others will send you money and that it is based on morals and you can be "philanthropic" while making millions. Give me a freakin break. i read up on it and found out the guy is in hiding somewhere in Canada. Oh yeah, and supposidly 10% goes to feeding the starving kids in Africa . what a jerk!

My 2 cents ... I guess the Internet was just another way to increase the momentum of scams and frauds filling up our in-boxes, legitimate forums, and even Google Adwords! One thing I find fascinating is how fast these criminals adapt to new technologies. I use Internet marketing techniques to promote a legitimate business, but it seems that these scammers are using the same techniques, except that they are always a step ahead! From phishing techniques to more advanced SSL certificate masquerades, it is becoming a more scary Internet ... or more truthfully, an even more scary world ...

You should also be careful of emails you get that do not have an "opt-out" requirement. They may look real, but can easily be fake. The opt-out requirement is part of the CAN-SPAM act, which can be viewed in detail at The CAN-SPAM Act: Requirements for Commercial Emailers

Spammers are actually getting creative in that the "opt-out" link actually points to one of their websites. Make sure that you recognize the group that you are about to "opt-out" of before clinking any link. If you don't know what it is, mark it as junk!
