Made some changes

I made some changes to my site (slowly being ironed out) and I was wondering what people think of it.

www.journeyoftheanimals.com

Any and all feedback would be great.

Just looks like you could better format the spacing and font of the text to make it look a little more professional, and fix theplacement of the advertisement... on some pages it gets in the way of the nav bar.

Other than that it looks great! Definitely a lot of potential.
Keep up the good work!

Re: the logo.. finally something to like about your website. Nearly all the free templates > your site. Your logo would go in nicely with some of those templates.

I like the parrot on the page. There is when I saw your page a link that was underneath some writing near the bottom.

Nice to hear you like something on my site Newton. As far as the advert getting in the way of the navigation, I will look into that, Bet I have some px in places where I should have %. Thank you Envydia for the comment on the parrot.

Thank you.

I am working hard on this. I have been working on the site while I try to build a forum community. The forum is slowly coming together and I think the site is too.

Hey JOTA,

Look'n pretty good! Gotta love that logo

I did notice that when I open your page in a new browser, and the page is not maximized, the text of the page, the logo and the parrot all overlap. Of course, once you maximize the page it looks better, but seeing something like that will throw off a new visitors perception of the site. It looks like you are using CSS to set it all up. I am pretty sure that you can set minimum sizes for the style sheets, as well as associating one style sheet with another

EX: (div)stylesheet1(div)stylesheet2(/div) (/div)

This may be a bit confusing I guess.

Yeah not sure about CSS. I am using layers and just trying to place them correctly. I know there is so much more I need to learn.

You like the logo? Yeah just something I had laying around. just kidding. My logo designer did a wonderful job and I could not have asked for more!

Layers only work with CSS (when you set up a layer, it creates a #div tag in your css spreadsheet or in the head of your html document.) Learn how to manipulate the css code, and you can easily master layers. Are you using Dreamweaver?

CSS is a beast to tackle. There is a lot to learn, but it isn't as bad as it would seem, more intimidating than anything. If you have Dreamweaver 8, I would recomend The Missing Manuel, it rocks!

This site has a lot of good information about css as well:

I can see that your site has improve a lot.

You just need to do some more work with your fonts, it's style and spacing.

But in general you've really done a good job. Two thumbs up!

I am not saying that the people that were saying negative things were wrong, so please do not get me wrong. Just nice to hear good things. I will look over this thread again and see what everyone said should be worked on.

Yes I am using dream weaver 8. I know many people use notepad but I really prefer the point and click time saver.
