One thing that frustrates me to no end is that Nevada (my future home) has thousands of perfectly edible horses running around in the wild, but we aren't allowed to hunt them and eat them, nor are we allowed to hunt them and sell them to people who will eat them (Belgians eat horse). The government rounds them up when they eat themselves out of house and home, then sells them-but not for food. Why aren't the wild horses declared pests, then bounties created? That's what Texas does with wild hogs.

Byzantium kinda has a point here. We often recoil at the thought of eating particular animals (dogs for instance) because it's not culturally acceptable where we are (anglo-derived societies) even though it's perfectly normal practice in many other parts of the world (S.E. Asia).

To paraphrase Dennis Leary, we don't want to hurt the cute little animals, but we'll happily chow down on a quadruple quarter pounder (full pounder?) because cows aren't cute. "You're a baseball glove, get on the F-ing truck!"
