Local Online Gig Guide

i need to start an online gig and nightlife guide, can you guys help me on the best aproach for the website. Thanks

Just a warning -- I have seen these started oh so many times (a city of 150k here and seen about 10-15 sites... there is not THAT much happening here).

Your main barriers are:

- Bars, bands, and event people are SURPRISINGLY lazy about posting info about their gigs online. If they have been putting it in x underground paper forever, you need to convince them your stuff is better.

- People who go to these things are also used to looking at whatever local underground paper you have to know where to go ... so you must retrain them.

I havent seen anyone pull it off here yet, but the execution has been poor. Its a catch 22 in a way as well. No one will post info if no one is reading it, and no one will read it if no one is posting info.

have you worked in the internet/ media industry before?

no i havent, but i got basic web design knowledge. I can use dreamweaver and frontpage
