Question learning web development or outsourcing it!

    Hi All,

I know many are going through this!! I have good knowledge in computers and programming yet havent been really updating or practicing new web technologies. As I have been more on managing and coordinating than doing the work myself.

Now that a few great ideas popped up! I find it hard to trust a freelancer or even an employee with the ideas even with contracts. I been swinging half way and back learning new web techs .. would take me a few months to wrap this up and be able write my own Web Apps , again the thought of loosing that time gets to me. I want to hear someones experience. please note I run IT contracting business so I have access to the best prices when it comes to freelancing any tech project.

    Regards,

    M.D.B

Honestly if you can not be completely devoted to it as a 40 hour week job it is better to outsource. Web Design & development is not something you can just learn because the industry comes out with different standards on a yearly basis. Outsourcing has gotten to the point where you can find a reputable company you can have great success and save a lot of money. Make sure you find a good company though. Ask the right questions and ask to see an extensive portfolio. Not to advertize my company, but pm and I can tell you what we can do for you and if we can't help I can refer you to some great companies.

    Thanks,

Ya, you better know if inside and out. Personally, i outsource or just find buddies or mine that know it. But you should know at least some to ensure you dont get screwed over in any ways. ha

I see that from whatever you learnt, you know the basics of web app development and the possible work flow, which should be good enough to assign the work to someone competent and get the job done with weekly/daily supervision.Of course there are going to be corrections with the feedback loop involved, but it helps you as well with understanding what to expect from clients in a certain way since you have time now to focus on your business rather than technical intricacies. My recommedation would be outsource it.And your experience as an IT Contractor will definetely be a plus.
