Jewellery Sales

Hi, i make a design various jewellery as a hobby, and i would like to start selling it.

Im just wondering how this would be done best?

Would it be better to make the items then take pictures and sell them or make custom designs as per customers requirements?

Both have pros and cons, im just wondering which you think would work best, or a mix of both?

Thanks

Jake

I think you should have a product line but also offer a custom service. That way you can target both needs.

Jake, if you go with the custom designs as per customers requirements, then what happens is that you will become a self employeed person. You might have working per hour rate.

If you sell the items to general public, you will then have a chance to build a business, and become a BIG business owner..

You could also distribute your items to stores, find stores that could be interested in purchasing large quantities. If you expose your brand to many different stores you can expect more traffic to your own store. For example, when I find an item at a store, I go to the original manufacturers website be it a store or not for some investigation.

You could start by making a small ebay store. That way you can get an idea of the sort of prices that people are willing to pay, and get some word out about your products.

This is a good idea. There are more buyers on eBay then in any one single market. Do you have a portfolio of your designs? What is your price point (low, med, high)? Are you planning on doing volume or single custom units? I run a few wholesale auctions. I'd love to see what you have... send me some pics w/ prices... rogercbryan at gmail

May I just ask, because I got a little curious. How do you create necklaces, armbands, etc? I know with stones and stuff, but how? ;P

Do you need any suppliers for gems and jewel stones?
