Hello to everyone!
This thread probably only applies to people from the UK. Just wanted to talk about the new program called “Tycoon” that is screening over here in the UK if you are from the UK and haven’t seen it yet it’s a great program to watch and features Peter Jones www.peterjones.tv .
If you did watch the program you will remember the fellow Entrepreneur, Tom Thurlow and his idea to design and publish a free news paper aimed at young people.
He own a business in the UK that he started when he was just 13 years of age, he basically gets signed copies of popular books and sells then for five times their retail price, now at 17 years old his business made him a gross profit of £35,000 or about $70,000 which for a 17 year old like myself is a great achievement!
When he started Tycoon Tom said that he was going to develop a new paper that was going to target young people and be in every school, when he made a mock-up of the paper FINALY! Tom found out that the printing firm does not work bank holidays, I would of thought for someone with a go getting mind set like that, it would be a obvious question to ask?
Anyway when he eventually got his mock-up Peter wanted to see it and it wasn’t in private, he said to Tom that he was going to speak to Tom like a 35 year old man. So Peter said that he didn’t like the new paper, and not only did he not like it he thought that his 11 year old daughter could do a better job.
What really got to Peter is that Tom thought that he had done a great job on the news paper, at which time looks like a very basic school news letter something that I could do on Photoshop and Microsoft Publisher!
So what are your thoughts on Tom do you think that his business will take off or that he will be closed down with in a couple of week? I already know that in next weeks program two business get closed down!
