1st of all welcome to the Forum but gut feeling tells me this ink cartridge market must be flooded as over in the UK every computer magazine has 100s of adverts selling these things,so i would think it must be cutting profit margins very thin.

Just had an ink cartridge refill business open up in my area, we'll see how long it lasts, somehow I think it will be hard for them to survive in the brick and mortar store, doing it from your house would have cut down on the overhead.
