    Ideas for Funeral.info

I recently acquired Funeral.info and I am amazed at the amount of keyword searches that relate to funerals. For example these are monthly searches:

    bereavement 135,000
    funeral homes 90,400
    funeral 74,000
    funeral homes 49,500
    eulogy 49,500
    funerals 27,100
    funeral flowers 22,200
    funeral songs 22,200
    cremation 22,200
    funeral flowers 18,100
    caskets 18,100

I am now exploring various ideas on how to develop and monetize the site; in a way that is actually helpful to those who have lost a loved one.

I ask you - 60,000+ entrepreneurs, what are some of your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your time and ideas, I DO appreciate it.

I've always thought I'd have trouble making money with some things. This is one of those things. I don't think I could make money off something that involves death. Especially making money off a person searching for info on the funeral of a deceased loved one.

Another thing is the adult industry. My religion plays a role in the adult one but it's my ethics that makes me think twice about the funeral one.

I'm not criticizing at all, just posting my thoughts. Anybody else feel this way?

I understand.....I'm thinking it could be more like a directory type site and have the appropriate company pay a monthly/yearly listing fee.

Ultimate goal is to be a resource.

Thanks for the feedback, curious to hear from others.

Its a very good domain and although its a subject alot of people dont like to talk about it involves everyone at some stage in there life. You could start out using it as a directory to get the site up and running and add all the other options to expand the site at a later date.
    The possibilities are endless really

There are various ways you could monetize this specific domain due to the amount of interest in the subject. The first thing that came to mind was an affiliate type offer. Off memory, several banks and/or insurance type places are always looking for people to enter their life insurance policies, so setting up funeral resources with lots of articles, helpful information, contact details and an affiliate link for life insurance and/or funeral matters could net you a fair amount of money if you convince people to sign up.

thanks for your feedback everyone....I've thought about the affiliate offers and directory business model. With my SEO background and a domain like Funeral.info - getting top search rankings shouldn't be too difficult.

With regards to traffic...the type in traffic isn't as great - it is a .info, but that will change [traffic] once we launch the site....

The best way I can think of monetizing is to stay with the search directory/listing idea. Provide information on the site, maybe a forum/blog. Insurance companies and banks do look for this stuff, maybe you can get sponsors from that, and they might even provide some content.

Maybe try to put a positive spin on it. Instead of death celebrate the life they lived.

    Just a couple ideas.

I am taking this one into consideration. I can think of a few ways to capitalize on this. Maybe we should talk in private though because this is a touchy subject.
