I want to hear from less successful entrepreneurs...

Why it is that we only hear the success stories of ppl making $100,000+? I don't know about you guys, but I can live comfortably with making $50,000+ where I live. As important as the money is, online businesses aren't just about that. I want to hear some story of ppl that are making a living online, not just the one's getting rich. I feel as if there is a false sense that if online entrepreneurs don't make a ton of money they aren't doing it right which in turn leads to them quitting what they are doing.

Anyways, if you would like to share I would love to listen to your story. Or if you know of a place where I can read some of these stories that would be great too. Thanks!

This isn't true. Many entrepreneurs make enough to live off of such as $5k a month or $10k a month. Not enough to retire but enough to be comfortable. Make no mistake, these probably far outweigh the number of people building million dollar businesses. They're just more compelling stories around big businesses but that doesn't mean you don't hear about the small businesses that have personal comfortable successes. I'd dare argue there's a ton of these all over if you look.

What isn't true? That we mostly hear success stories of ppl how make $100,000+. I'm not sure that you have much of an argument there. I'm sure there are tons of ppl who make less than that and that's who I want to hear from. I think anyone who makes a full time living online has a compelling story. That's the point Im trying to make. Not sure the point of your comment, but thanks for taking the time for reading my post and commenting anyways.

The point I was trying to make is that there are plenty of stories of people who make less than $100k+ online. Just because they aren't in mainstream media as often doesn't mean there aren't a bunch around. Your statement of not hearing about it and hearing mostly of people who have huge success isn't true. It might be true for you because of the sources you look at but that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of those stories everywhere.

I never made any statements that those stories aren't compelling (not saying you said I did). I agree and think they are every bit as valid and awesome as someone achieving huge financial success. Was merely arguing against the fact that you don't hear about them (you being used here in the general sense). A better opening statement would be "Why is it that I" vs " Why is it that we".

I see what KyleXY is trying to say... the stories of people making millions are basically fed to you everyday on TV and the internet... The other stories exist you just have to look for them a little harder. I tried doing a few Google Searches to see what I can find... all I get is affiliate pages based on my keywords. Think of it like this... only the compelling stories are circulated... If every baseball game ended at a tie 0-0 people would stop caring about baseball games... but when that 1-0 game hit... it would be on the front page of every newspaper!

Alright, so point to me some. That was the whole point of me starting this thread. I didn't start it and say "there are no stories of less successful entrepreneurs anywhere on the entire Internet". Im not arguing that, I'm sure there are a ton of them out there. I would just like to hear more. I'll make sure to take a poll next time I start a thread so I'm not wayyy off base in my generalizations.

Exactly. I also get that OP wants to hear stories of people on here have smaller wins. I'm just saying there plenty out there too

EDIT: I'm boarding a plane right now and is replying on my iPhone so I'm a bit limited at the moment so I'll try to send you some. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is PicClick which just recently passed the $100k a year mark but for a while after craigslist banned their initial project was struggling to get revenues back up. Another one I can think of is a project my friend did that produced $2500 a month with quick shortcuts. Both were independent projects done by one person.

As much as I get your baseball example, you cant really make that argument because soccer games end in ties all the time and its the most popular sport in the world.
I know there are tons of stories out there like lisa3876 on youtube. Her videos are awesome and very informative. I was just wondering if someone knew of a story or blog that talks about them.

Thats based on expectation... soccer games are expected to have low scores and ties are considered normal. In baseball there are no ties... that is where I got this analogy from.

Speaking of soccer.. Watched the US game today... 92 min with out a score.. no wonder people in the US do not watch soccer... we have the attention span of flies.. we need more action

I was thinking about this post on my way home... Would a site or blog that talks about 'regular successful business people' be popular? The next question is would it be marketable. As we both noted doing a google search for any term related to this topic comes back with 1000's of affiliate sites... hmmmmmm

    Hi Roger,

I'm finally back at the computer (typing on the iPhone for forums is annoying lol), erm.. there are a few blogs that I know that try to cover this but I don't know of any particularly that are hugely successful although I would imagine there would be an audience interested if done right. I'm not a huge fan of running blogs outside of miscellanous ramblings however so take that with a grain of salt. I think the interesting part isn't particularly how much they do (although I'm sure some are interested in the numbers too) but more importantly the specifics of how they were able to get there, little things that separates them. I'm more interested in processes than numbers but that is a personal preference of course.

Success is a perception. If you're making enough to be truly happy... there you go.
