    I need Help! And Faaasstttt!!!

Ok....its been a while, but I'm hoping I can find a little help from this site...in a non-business way. I need to find Donation sites. There is a 6 mo. old girl in my town with severe liver damage. Her medicare will pay for a transplant, but they won't pay for the donor to have the surgery. My family is friends with the babies family, her parents are only 18. They are trying to raise $100,000. We are at $6,000 right now, but we only have a few weeks. This little girl doesn't have that long.
Soooo back to the begining....I need suggestions! I know there are donation sites out there...Know any really good ones? Have any other ideas? You guys are great at brain storming, and making money...so lets do it for a good cause. Thanks -Katie

Not sure whether this site is worth your time and money but they did mention that they are in the top 1% in Alexa's traffic rankings.

99% of their traffic are probably people looking for money not actual donaters... But just speculating... Worth a check anyways

    Great cause.

Contact ALL your local media outlets (newspapers, newstations, ANYTHING) and let them know about your story. I'm sure if you present the story well you would get coverage. Just a LITTLE bit of media coverage should significantly help getting donations.

Before you do that get a dedicated phone number or webpage people can use to make their donations. You NEED TO get people to empathize with the situation AND make it EASY for them to HELP!

Post flyers around the city about the situation. Go around to local schools and talk to principals about the situation. Go to churchs. Go ANYWHERE. This is life and death, do NOT LET FEAR about doing these things enter the picture. You will accomplish your goal. Know that. Good luck.

PS - Mby you should think about changing your name from blackheart to whiteheart? Unless your trying to be something your not?

Yes, we do have lots going on inside our community right now, We are reaching out to almost any who is willing to listen. We have contacted media, and plan to have an article in the papers, and a spot on the radio. My step-mother is doing most of the organizing, and I'm trying to reach to those outside our community. Any and all ideas would be appreciated, and thanks to those who have already replied.

And lol at the Black Heart thing...that was my store name. Yes, was...we closed down a few weeks ago. It was mostly punk, goth and emo...so the name fit well..
Thanks again guys...keep the suggestions coming. -Katie

    Kkoher,

What about a community yard sale? I have a friend who did a jewelry party from Premier Designs and 50% of the sale went to a charitable organization. Bake sales, etc.
My daughters each had birthday parties and in lieu of getting gifts, requested donations (some were monetary and some were items off wishlists) for our local homeless shelter and our local animal shelter.

    Good Luck.

KKoher, your store failed? Bummer. I suspect that people in Fort Myers aren't doing much in the way of shopping, especially since housing values have dropped from $350k to $100k, and whole towns are being abandoned. I'm trying to start up a computer repair business, just me doing repairs, but I've yet to advertise-I've been pretty ill for a couple weeks. I do have a website at ByteBuster Mobile Computer Repair serving Sacramento, 916 Area Code , but I haven't yet gotten well enough to do the necessary pavement pounding needed to get customers. What are you gonna do now for a business?

I raised $2400 in 3 days using chipin after my dad died from cancer, for an emergency family transportation fund.

Chipin does not do the work for you but gives you the utility to make it easy to donate via paypal, and motivate donors by allowing them to see your target and progress.

So chipin is awesome, but you need to couple it with a way to get the word out. That might be a website with information on why you are asking for the donation, the story behind it, background info on the people affected, etc. Then, you may want to facebook it and ask them top pass it around, email it to everyone you know, and make it easy to "chain" it. That is, find a way to motivate a donor to send the message on to someone else.

Best of luck with your donation drive
