I would create a free online games website with these instructions and then use the bulk of the $88 to pay for search engine inclusion and/or advertising.
I'm sure there are a lot of other things you could do too, this is just one.

I know most people don't know who I am and I'm not to popular on these forums or any forums because I don't like writing. I would rather pay someone else to write. Anyways to answer your question.
Whenever I see this question, it seems so simple to answer. I highly disagree with people who say $88 is not enough to do anything. My first site was started with only $10 and has made over $1,000. Not trying to brag just stating a point. You can start with any amount of money.
I am a true believer that you need to know how to invest $10 before you begin investing $1,000. Anyways to the question...
How would I invest $88 bucks?
1. $3.19, for a .info Domain - ($84.81 left)
I would first spend some bucks to buy a .info domain with the main topic in it for example thekeyword.info. Remember the domain name just has a small part in being successful.
2. $25.00, for getting 5 articles - ($59.81 left)
I would order 5 articles (500 words each) from my article writer, she does a great job at a cheap price of $0.01 per word. She would write one 500 word intro on the topic and 4 other 500 word article related to the topic.
3. $0.00, for a layout and design - ($59.81 left)
Its kinda cheating seeing that I design my own sites from scratch. However I keep the design very simple and layout easy to navigate. Normally it only has a color scheme with only two colors.
4. $7.00, Directory submission - ($52.81 left)
I would find someone to submit to 100 directories for $7.00. Very simple!
5. $10.00, Blog Comments - ($42.81 left)
I would pay someone to comment on around 30 related blogs for $10.00. This will probably just get me some no-flow links but they still help for Search engine ranking.
6. $10.00, Full Service Article Marketing - ($32.81 left)
It would involve finding a writer to write an article on a related topic then submitting it to some article directories.
7. $8.00, 100 Social bookmarking submission - ($24.81 left)
This would help with getting some quick traffic to the site. Of course I would pay someone else because my time is worth more than money.
8. $24.81, 5 one way permanent Links - ($0.00 left)
I would finish the rest of the bucks with five one way related links.
I hope this helps.
Have a good one

Thanks for the nice words.
The source of income would be AdSense. The reason for this is that I'm still learning about affiliate marketing. Eventually, I want to be able to use affiliates with better results so I don't rely on AdSense so much.
even better...dont bother with the blog or getting a domain name. pay others to write articles on different affiliate products..and submit those articles to classified ad/directory sites...would that work?

What would be the advantages of hiring someone else to write the articles other than saving time? How do you know they're honest and the articles are the writer's original work? Also, do you generally have to pay first, or after the articles are sent to you?
Tired of Losing Money on Clickbank Products? Click Here to Discover the Amazon Goldmine.
I think that's brilliant, but would it be enough to make a long term income? If not, how much money are you expecting to gain from this exactly? Besides using clickbank products, I don't get how to make money by blogging. Can you please explain to me? Thank you! If anything, I'm willing to try it myself.
Nylivinglarge, I just pored myself a cup of coffee so I'm ready to write. This might take me awhile to write (I'm a slow write).
I want to explain how I started to completely answer your question.
My first site was a testicular cancer site early 2005. I notice it was receiving a good amount of traffic from Google for a specific keyword but seeing that the site wasn't really for that keyword the visitors weren't staying. I decided to develop a small information site on that keyword in Nov 2005. Keep in mind I was just starting in developing sites and my skills were poor (writing, designing, and SEO). also I had very little amount of money to invest.
Seeing that I had very little amount of money, I did everything myself. - I would recommend everyone starting out to dab into the complete process of developing a site so when you do have the money you'll know what to spend it on. I already had a reselling hosting account so that wasn't a problem. I think it was costing me $4.00 a month. Then I bought a domain for $10. Thats all it cost me in the beginning.
The Process
- Bought the domain "thekeyword.com"
- Keyword researching
I started out using Keyword Research Tool to find the related articles I wanted to write for the site. My main weakness is writing so it was difficult. I decided to just write 3 articles for the site (intro page and 2 related topics).- Designing
The design was very limited too but I still knew I needed to just do it. The design included a top logo, left side navigation, and content on the right. luckily, I had my wife (girlfriend at the time) to choose the color scheme because when it comes to colors... I suck at choosing them. The funny part is that the site still looks the same to this day.- SEO
At the time, I knew nothing much about SEO except to have my keywords throughout the site. I spent a good amount of time submitting to directories. Also added a link from my testicular cancer site.
The Results
I spent $10 on the domain two years ago and now it has earned $969.84 (lol I had to check AdSense to see the amount). Personally, I think that is a good return even though my current sites get better results. So... to answer your question, "would it be enough to make a long term income?". you be the judge.
If anyone else wants to talk, just send me a PM or respond to this post.
P.S.
You might of noticed in my first post I said my first information site has made over $1,000 but in this post saying $969.84. On first post I didn't check my AdSense account and was just estimating. I apologize for the mess up.
