How to start from almost nothing?

I Just moved back to South Texas on Lake Corpus Christi. I have alot of big ideas but financially im little unstable due to school ect. I took a break from school for now it being summer and all. I have recently looked into the whole affiliate marketing network but has often gave me a headache after reading so much stuff about it from so many different affiliates or ebook people trying to claim they have the method of becomeing something big. I just looked to affiliate marketing because currently i live on a lake in a vacation spot of a town (so it is small), and i am trying to avoid getting a job in town which is 45 min a way one way to avoid wear and tear on my car. If i had the money i would look more into dealer buy/sale market as well as recustomization. One thing i think that would really suite well for good small high profit margin business down here would be to buy alot of the older boats that are just rotting down here and remodel them. There is alot of unused or boats who just need a little touching up to be bought by someone down here. There is alot of profit to be made down here with the large amount of boats that just need to be salvaged and cleaned up and sold with a good margin return. Thought about taking a loan out or finding someone who has the money to do a little backing, take it slow and if it takes off maybe eventually open a refinished used boat sales. Same with automotive industry, i was in car sales for 1.5 years and recently it got slow but i use to buy and resale cars from manheim auctions and there is such a good return buying from auctions, makeing a few modifications and then marketing to the right crowd.
Anyways any ideas /opinions appreciated. Sorry for Just running on with this post, should just make a blog haha.

If there's tourism, after you refurnish the boats, you can rent them out to recuperate some of your costs and run a sales business concurrently. So when you're not selling the boats (difficult due to the economy), you can still make some money. I'd advertise this on the mainland.

However, I think a better and more profitable business is to offer a cleaning/repair service for the boats. Charge a boat owner a fixed sum per month or so to get the boat cleaned. A cleaning/customization service business for boats.

    Hope this helps,
    d

First of all congratulations! secondly i applaud your idea, it seems that you've got a good start going so far.

Have you done any market research in your area using the Internet? there are so many tools that are available through internet marketing that i feel are so often overlooked. If you can get a good sense of what your consumer basis is going to be around your area, then you can take it from there.

Finances are tough when it comes to setting up a business, which is why you have to find as many ways as possible to cut overhead costs and thereby increase revenue. For this there are a number of avenues you can pursue, with outsourcing a lot of your administrative tasks being one option, even going as high as management levels can potentially be outsourced, this of course once you have the entire operation up and running.

in the meantime, I would see what you can do to find out the interest in your area for your initiative, and try and garner as much attention and focus on your idea as possible using the tools available to you.

Whatever you do, write it down as a plan before you start taking action - if you don't have a clearly defined outcome (regardless of what you windup doing for profit) you're going to spin your wheels.
