Unhappy How do you feel about someone who copies your website?

Recently I discovered that my website had been copied, the name is basically the same, he stole our slogans as well as text.

I,of course have contacted my attorney, but I am Curious as to what others have done about this problem with website theifs.

I read an article about this same situation in INC. magazine, the guy spent thousands in attorney fees but since the man who copied it was in another country he couldn't do a lot about it. Apparently the man was selling copies of the website to numerous other people but he had his lawyers draw up a cease and desist and sued anyone that didn't comply. I'm a big believer in fighting for whats yours and if you've got it all legal and copy written no worries. I'm so sorry about whats happening to you, but I hope it all works out.

I quickly report it to google. Google will ban these websites from their index. I think this is hilarious and i wish i can see the peoples face when they find out they are not on the biggest search engine in the world.

I really don't care too much, if my website is that good that people want to copy it then whatever.

Prepare necessary evidences that this website copied your ideas.
    Then send it to Google.

It sounds like you are on the right track by hiring an attorney. He/she will be able to best advise you, but I agree with reporting it to Google. It certainly can't hurt to try.

You could see when his domain was registered as that will give a clear date as a starting point to go by,you could then roughly work out how long the site was copied after your own !!!

Just contact someone who can provide you with expert legal advice. I would also send them a nice email telling them if they do not remove your content you would pursue in taking legal action.

Definitely good that you contacted a lawyer, especially if the copycat is marketing exactly the same products or services you are. Although it must be infuriating, I guess you can consider the imitation to be a form of flattery that will validate the work you have been doing. Your message obviously struck a chord with this copycat, despite there being no excuse for the blatant plagiarism. Best,

I hope you get it all sorted out.

I think google automatically penalizes sites that plagiarise, so their rankings will be very bad.

well really you are kinda limited honestly... people copy people all the time... i mean u dont see the guys who make autoposters suing each other... they both do they same thing... same service same buiness... its competition... now if he/she is saying just like invisible ads on their website.. then u have something... i learned the hard way spent almost 2k on a lawyer and stil nothing.. keep in mind when u sue him hes gonna have a lawyer too and u could be battling it out for years! just keep up the good work and dont give up on yourself market market market! ur doing something right if they are copying...

    I'd be honored...

If my website is cool enough for someone to attempt to copy, I know I'm doing something right.

I think that it not good to copy out web sites and I think that people should file a lawsuit in such situations.
