I don't know about you but I have not seen one drop of rain! Having been through many bad hurricanes before, this one seems to not exist to me!! It is putting a damper on my travel plans though :/ Not cool.

Yeah..it pretty much turned out to be nothing...at least not for us. I heard it has flooded tons of houses as it moved across the state, but the worst we had was some downed palm fronds. I though maybe it would at least be good for a day off of work..but of course not, the mall opened at 10...just like every other day...oh well.

Being in the panhandle, I don't normally worry about any direct hits from hurricanes since their power gets blunted after rampaging through central and south Florida

Well well well lucky for you! We take the brunt of it! I'll never forget Hurricane Andrew, I was in S.Fla at the time. Even though I was young, I can remember it like it was yesterday! This "Fay" does not compare a bit!!

I live in Clearwater, Florida which is in the Tampa Bay Area and we barely felt anything! I'm thankful it went right past us because I'm not in the mood for blackouts and things like that.

I remember some people who migrated north after Hurricane Andrew because they didn't want their houses crushed by trees or blown away by another hurricane. They would show me pictures of their houses, which had roofs blown off and trees stuck in the walls.

Good to hear that this one broke up before it made it onto shore. I think we're starting to see some of the rain from it, since its been storming a little the since yesterday.

I am in the Jacksonville area and we are having tornadoes now. We've had about 12 inches of rain. I think that it has been worse than a hurricane for some of us because it sat in one place and did not move...just sat and dumped tons of rain. Usually a hurricane blasts right through and then you have to deal with the damage. This storm has been hitting us constantly for 3 days now. We have had six deaths in our area also.

Funny you mention the impact on the economy. I was just thinking last night that the folks that work for the power companies must be making killer over time pay.

Looks like I spoke too soon about this one looking like it would break apart easily. It came up to the panhandle area and just took its time crossing west and dumping tons of rain, killed 11 people so far I heard. Still not as bad as some others that have hit our area, but I think Crist just declared a state of emergency as a result of all this.
