Help! I need a good name for a new neighborhod BAR!

    Hi Guys,

I am in the process of opening a new neighborhood bar and we are having a real hard time coming up with a catchy name that we really love.

    A little about the bar:

Its a neighborhood bar located in a downtown area of suburb city of Boston.
    Address is 120 Foster St
    Not Irish theme
Not Sports theme (although there will be plasmas and games on just not sports memorabilia everywhere)
Going to be comfortable, fun, inviting atmosphere
Light food menu also will be available but its not really like a bar & grill.
Younger to middle aged crowd 21-30
    Music/DJ on weekends
Its a medium sized bar seating for about 75, about 1600 Square feet

We really want something simple, easy to say, with no negative connotations.

We like names like The Last Drop, Pour House, Whiskey's, Good Times, etc but unfortunately these all already exist in the Boston area.

Thanks for any ideas you have!
    -Dave

    What about "Dave's"?

No, seriously, what will set you all apart from the crowd or are you going to be successful because the location is great? How are you going to draw crowds; what type of promotions are you going to go with?

I feel your name should give a feel of the type of place. Need more than what you are not; more of what you are.

What is your specialty going to be? I once saw a college bar in OH called "Cheap Beer".. that was about as simple as it gets... You have to decide what you main product is going to be and who you are going to sell it to. What crowd are you trying to attract (and do not say everyone as that is a plan for failure) and then what you are going to specialize in?.. beer.. martinis... food... whiskey... blah blah blah...

    So what are your plans?

If it's just a generic bar with no particular theme, I'd say think up a list of words that have positive associations like "Vibe", "bright", etc, and then pull out a thesaurus.

You'll come up with cool words like "Naif" and "Auroral"

I like the idea of your name being in the name of the bar. I think AO is on to something. What about some of the following:

    Dave's Bar and Grill
    Dave's Bar
    Dave's Hideout
    Dave's Spot
    Dave's Hangout
    Dave's Place

    Just a few thoughts.

    Why not foster street bar?
You can't achieve your goals if you don't take that chance so go pry open your trunk and take those amps.

Come to think of it, Fosters group is one of Australia's largest liquor manufacturers. They do wines, spirits and beers.
Call it Foster's, and see if you can make it into an Australiana themed joint

Just a thought though, if people from YEF come, do we get a discount?

There's a bar in my hometown with a great name: "Whiskey Dicks" - Go ahead and take it, I know the owner and I'm sure he won't mind
