Has anyone been mentioned in blogs/podcasts?

    hey

Thought I'd just share a possibly good means of advertising/marketing yourself and projects. (I'll probably post something about this on my blog sometime soon).

Basically I'm very much into a couple of blogs and podcasts, especially those on business and entrepreneurship.

So far if I can remember I have been specifically mentioned in about three (maybe more) places:

    - http://www.smallbizpod.co.uk/ (scroll down to Small Biz Pod #22)
    - http://odeo.com/channel/4787/view (one of those podcasts, I can't remember which)

How did I get mentioned in these? ... simply by involving myself in them and interacting.

e.g. All I did in the Small Biz Pod was listen to their podcasts and one of them mentioned the lack of Australians on a frapr map they had just added. So I added myself and voila, mentioned in their podcast.

Then with the other two I basically just posted comments in their blog, and voila, mentioned in their blogs and podcasts.

For some reason I get an awesome surge of excitement when my name gets mentioned by others... perhaps just a feeling of importance (thinking of David Carnegie's book)

I don't think the added mentions has really boosted visitors to my sites/projects or revenue, but I'd say it could still be a great way to spread the word.

Has anyone else been mentioned on a blog/podcast (that isn't their own)?

    cheers
    nathan

Quite easy, identify your target market.. find a major (or reasonably so) podcast and/or blog on the topic and basically start reading the blogs posts and listening to the podcasts. Hopefully you're passionate about your business and industry, so it should be quite enjoyable to basically become involved and leave comments, interact in their forums if they have one etc.

The whole approach is basically the same thing you do if you want to promote your own blog, but applying this to your business.

    cheers
