    Guests viewing the site?

Wow 330 guests and only 26 members online...Guests don't be afraid to register we won't bite i promise. The more members we have the easier it is to help each other out, become a member now or at least soon.

yeah for some reason the numbers have been down lately. between 700 and 800 use to be the average from what I saw a few months ago.

Yes, we need members to participate. We want interaction. Lots of members just post their introduction and ...?

I understand that lots of members don't want to see spams when they check the new posts. Some just want to get info and leave.

Make them stay? It's different for everyone. I think every member should answer it. Me? I like to read people's insights, I'd like to know how they are doing too, and there's interaction for every topic discussed.

Maybe we should have many more thread starters.

Well I'm a new member, and this question seems to be a good one that I can answer.

For one thing, I have't posted much lately because I was job hunting, which thankfully is over as I have a new, better job. I start tomorrow. Also, I've been conversing with one of the members here via PM's for the last few days getting plenty of info, tips, etc, etc on starting my own website and/or blog, so that's been keeping me off of the forums a bit as well.

Anyway, to answer the question above...

I feel a lot of people may not stick around because:
    1) They get scared off by some of the not-so-successful stories that are out there
    2) They jump in before doing enough research and become one of those not-so-successful stories
    3) They come in thinking that it's going to be a cake-walk, only to later find out that they STILL have to actually work to make it work
    4) They come in thinking that everything will be a "get rich quick" plan only to find out it isn't

Some of you guys/gals have been doing this for quite a while eventhough you are young (some not even 20 years of age yet!), and you speak in slang and abbreviations that us noobies just don't understand or pick up on right away. If we are trying to read through the posts and don't understand the slang or abbreviations used, it puts us in a bind, slows down our learning progress, and in some cases I'm sure, turns some people off completely.

Anyway, that's a few things that I can think of. But regardless of all of that, I plan on sticking around for quite a while and figuring this stuff out so I can make it work to my advantage.

You also have a good point MX5. And congrats on your new work.

In many ways, forums are helpful to those starting a new venture etc. And we also want to share and still join in the discussions.

Yeh.. as a guest... often you come on, have a look.. gather the information that you require, then go. Unless you have good knowledge in an industry, it's tough to contribute on a forum like this. It's full of very useful information. You feel as if there would be no point contributing your thoughts because it may be wrong, which is probably the case... So they tend to just observe and learn. Then down the track in a few months time, when they have industry knowledge and experience they start contributing.

    my take on it anyway...

Well we could always post and sticky a thread that tells what each abbreviation stands for and what each slang word means.

Yeah, but I believe that you can learn a lot more in a shorter period of time if you DO join and ask many questions. Just reading won't cut it. Just my 2 cents.
