Each year, Growing Up CEO celebrates the remarkable achievements of young men and women leading inner city companies across America. Twenty-five winners under the age of 21 are chosen, representing America’s top emerging leaders. Please visit www.icic.org and click on "Growing Up CEO" on the left for nomination and application information.
Growing Up CEO winners become part of a network of successful young entrepreneurs, allowing them to take part in mentorship opportunities and share best practices with their peers. They are featured on the Growing Up CEO web site, are exposed to media opportunities and key influencers in their cities, and have access to scholarships and internships for young entrepreneurs. After they win the award, they are invited to join the Growing Up CEO Alumni Network, where they can interact with an even wider pool of winners from across the country.
Growing Up CEO winners are also given the opportunity to advance their business excellence by attending the annual Inner City 100 Summit. During their two days in Boston the young entrepreneurs are exposed to the Inner City 100, a ranking of 100 of the fastest growing companies in America’s inner cities, and have the opportunity to develop mentor relationships with current and previous Inner City 100 CEOs. They attend the CEO Forum at Harvard Business School, taught by Harvard Business School professors including world-renowned strategist Michael E. Porter, and meet with current Harvard business students. In addition, the Growing Up CEOs meet national business and civic leaders who in the past have included Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and Carolina Wide Receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Former President Clinton recorded a video specifically for the Growing Up CEO winners in 2006, and has been invited to personally attend the 2007 event.
