    Got Kids?

So, I was just wondering how many of you have kids? How does your efforts to build or run your business effect them and vice versa? Have they inspired you, helped out in some way, etc.?
I have a 4 yr. old daughter. Since opening our store, I def. have less time with her, but try to make more of the time we do spend together. Also, we now carry punk baby onesies and toddler tee's b/c of her. She's also my main motivation. I always want my store to succedd, but some days are deffinetly more challenging than others, emotionally and physically. But she is the reason I keep going in hopes that some day it will prove to have been worth all the time and effort, and I can provide a better lifestyle for her.
Anyone else have any sappy stories?

I understand. I have a three year old. I have 14 years and many months till I need to be in a position to pay for his higher education. I am highly motivated to become more fiscally successful to be able to support him in his efforts.

Besides, I also want my own plane one day.

I have a daughter who is almost 2. It does complicate things for sure. I either have to give up time with her, or I have to give up time working on my business. I try to balance it out, but when I spend more time on my business, my wife acts like I'm not spending any time at all with my family. It's a catch-22.

I feel when my daughter was born so was I in a sense. I became a new person that I had no idea I could be. This brings great enthusiasm for the entrepreneur. Besides the sweet success, the concept of handing something to our kids.

The name of my company is RJL Innovations. Stands for Ron Jessica Leigh (my daughters first and middle name) I want to build this for her when she gets older so she can have an exciting life. She also has a BIG invention idea which we developed.

All my father ever gave me was a beating and some very negative outlooks on life. I want my daughter to have something from me. This disposition can just light a fierce fire under an entrepreneur.

It's nice to read things like this. I have a 6 year old son (and a 13 year old daughter!) and it's not easy to balance business and personal lives. We always want more for our kids than we had and to be the best parents we can be. Kids can learn a lot about how to be people in all aspects of life by watching us in action. Our kids will learn fairness, kindness, perseverance, honesty and tenacity by watching us build our businesses...at least I hope so!

This may be from a different perspective but i am 16 and my dad owns his own small business and does well, i like to think of him as a successful person we live a comfortable life, and i look up to him alot because he not only maintains his business but always finds time to spend with the family. I often times look at the way he runs his business and family life, and think to myself how much more successful he could make his company. However he often takes time off and spends money that well he could be inproving his business and or bringing in as more salary, but the time he takes to spend with my family i think makes up for any salary or improvement in his business. My father is a hard working man and i think anyone who can balance both business and family as he does is very successful and theres alot to be said for time well spent. I think i failed to mention hes the father of me 16 year old, a 13 teen year old, 2 year old, and 10 month old.

I have a three old son. Man three is a rough age. Two was a breeze, but three is crazy... It's hard to find time for any side projects. I get most of my work done after he falls a sleep. I've become some what of a night owl.

Having kids certainly makes you want to succeed, not just for yourself but now for them. I've found that you have to have some kind of structure if you plan to work at home. I've set aside an office in my garage and have to actually devote "work" time otherwise it's easy to get distracted.

If you think 3 is tough, wait until hes 4! Seriously, I'm praying that 5 will get us away from the "why do you make me so mad all the time", "You hurt my feelings", "well, I'm not gonna let you come to my birthday party" and all the crying and fits that come with it. Sometimes I just want to start laughing at her, most of everything she says I have no idea where it comes from...mostly kids at school I think....

Nope, don't have kids. In fact, I've forced myself to be single until I'm financially stable. It's not easy, but I'm sure it's a whole lot easier than those of you with kids. So I really admire those who are doing it.

I grew up with an entrepreneur mum, and she spent a lot of my childhood years travelling in and out of the country. It got to the point when we'd just say "ok, cya!" when she'd be off on her trips. Nevertheless, she's worked hard and I admire her and anyone else like her.

Not planning on having kids. But if I do, I am already working at home, which would be ideal
