Favorite Business Books?

They say something like 95% of successful business people read regularly.

What are some of your guys favorite business (or not business) books.

I'd have to say:
Richest Man in Babylon
and
Rich Dad Poor Dad

Are my two favorite.

I also enjoy biographies.

Direct from Dell
Iacocca (Ford and than Chrysler employee)

Looking forward to reading some more of your recommendations!

Biograhies can be very good. Bill Gates wrote a pretty good book, cannot remember what it was. You can check out his web site, http://microsoft.com/billgates/ . I want hosting from Microsoft

I've read a biography on Microsoft very good. Can't remember the name. I've also watched the move "Pirates of the Silicon Valley" which is interesting as well.

I also don't mind some of Tony Robins work. Awaken the Giant Within, although my friends made fun of me pretty bad for reading it.

I agree!
Reading is the key ...

The first book I read was Rich Dad Poor Dad - it's a simple book but a definite must read.

Other Books I recommend

--Business Thought--
The Millionaire Next Door

-- Marketing --
22 Immutable Laws of Branding
The Power of Cult Brands
No Logo - Naomi Klein (its good to know the other side of the argument as well)

-- Management --
Six Thinking Hats - Edward De Bono
The One Minute Manager

-- Sales --
Sales Dogs

-- Biographies / Autobiographies --
Losing my Virginity
Giuliani Leadership
Jack

There are plenty of other good books out there and I'd love to hear what other books people recommend.

Best Regards,
Mellon.

"The Intelligent Investor" - Benjamin Graham
"Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits" - Philip Fisher
"Security Analysis" - Benjamin Graham

Those are obviously skewed towards the investing aspect of business, which I am partial to.

As for general business books:

"The Road Ahead" & "Business @ the Speed of Thought" - Bill Gates
"Built To Last" & "Good to Great" - James Collins

Edited to add quotation marks.

I also liked "Rules for Revolutionaries" by Guy Kawasaki. Very entrepreneurial and motivating.

Awesome Business book: LayoffShield!

Hi,

My favorite business book is 'LayoffShield'!

Why? Although a good portion of the book is dedicated to self-empowerment layoff strategies for corporate America - the last Chapter, entitled, "Do What You Love and Get Paid" is a home run for anyone who knows they are capable of doing so much more than working in an office.

Scope it out:

"What I Learned Before I sold to Warren Buffet"

I can't remember the author, but it was a great book on running a solid business.

Think Big, Act Small: How America's Best Performing Companies Keep the Start-up Spirit Alive by Jason Jennings - this is absolutely one of the best books i have ever read about business. I highly recommend it.

There are dozens of books ive read over the years but i dont have time to compile the list at the moment.

Wow, this is an old thread!

My new favorite book is 'Secret of the Ages'. Everyone should read it.
