ExxonMobil

I think that's how you spell it. Just a nifty little fact for all of you. ExxonMobil makes roughly $530 USD in profit a second, making it the most profit generating company in the world (as of 2002).

So do you think they will contine to do this good, or you think since the world's oil supply is depleting, within the next 25-50 years they will not be here.

Post what you think here.

According to the "old" people I talk to, 30 years ago they said we would not have enough oil now. I think these companies continue to Innovative. I've seen a working model of a pretty sweet new energy source, not allowed to give a lot of detail but we are very close to some major breakthroughs in all kinds of new power sources.

You can bet as much as ExxonMobil doesn't want a shift away from oil, they're doing alternative energy research and trying to figure out how to profit from whatever is next.

Though maybe we won't run out of oil, I read an article the other day about a startup that was developing a way to speed up evolution and turn garbage into oil. A process that would take the earth millions of years, they were figuring out how to do it in a few months...

Gas prices are getting out of hand. that's for sure. It's not that bad around where I live, but it's still expensive. The thing is you cannot really live your day-to-day life without gas for your car. Espically people who need to commute.

ExxonMobil just won a favorable ruling on the Exxon Valdez case. Punitive damages might go from $5 billion to less than $300 million.

That's certainly not good for EM. There is going to be a lot of competition for the indursty I think and they may loose their spot as the dominate of the indursty.

That seems like a pretty good thing to me. Thinking you are going to have to pay $5B for a big oil spill that is your fault, but probably only paying $300M.
