Exploding dvd drive!

Let me start off by asking if anyone here has seen the Myth busters where they were seeing how fast a cd rom would have to spin until the disk couldn't handle it and would crack or in most cases explode.

Well if you have seen that episode you may remember that they had decided that cd roms would have to spin much faster then they currently do before there would be any chances of problems.

Well here is what happened to me a few days ago. There are 2 printers in the house but both of them were not working that day (just my luck). Well I had some stuff that had to be printed. So I decided my only choice was to put the stuff on a cd and go to Kinko's to print them. So I popped a CD in my dvd burner. To add to my bad luck it seemed like my DVD burner was having problems and refused to burn. Well I thought my computer could use a restart and then I would try again.

Well when the computer was just about done with the restart I here this loud pop / bang. Well I had no idea where the noise came from.

So I trying to burn the disk again but heard this odd noise now coming from the DVD burner. I opened the burner and here is what I found inside.

Don't ask me how it happened but the drive is now toast.
