Angry Experiences with bad manufacturer

Hi all,

Just wanted to share our experiences with a bad manufacturer. We think that it is appropiate to reveal the manufacturer's name in order to avoid others having the same bad experience like we went through.

It happened yesterday when we issued a Purchase Order to Arora (the said manufacturer) in KL. When we called them up to confirm receipt of our P/O, then only they told us that the prices have been changed (we were not informed earlier). Sizes are also different ffrom the samples we bought from them a few weeks ago. So the manager told us to go to their warehouse to see the goods. He expect us to travel all the way from Klang for that & it's not even our fault.

So we decided to go there this morning & to our dismay, what they told us about the sizes was a different matter. The actual sizes that we asked for was actually out of stock. We were so furious because he made us go all the way there (about 45 minutes drive) just to find out that what we ordered was not in stock (this was not mentioned earlier either). What a waste of time. If he were to check them properly yesterday, it would have saved us a lot.

Right now, our customer is quite dissappointed with the outcome (she has already paid us in full). Our reputation is affected by this incident & it wasn't our mistake but the manufacturer's mistake but we had to bare it. So from now on, we decided not to deal with Arora anymore. Very poor service & bad attitude of the staffs. No wonder their rivals has more customers. Now we understood why.

What we are trying to do is to source out for other manufacturers to meet our customer's requirements. We will go to great lengths even if it means that we will bare some losses because of this incident. It is the reputation that is more important than the cost. Money can be replaced soon but reputation..No..Once you fail, people will not trust you again or have doubts to order from us.

So to all entrepreneurs, young or pros, please be careful when dealing with these kind of manufacturers.

Well, is it not possible to take him to the court? May be he took for a ride just because he knew that you guys were young and inexperienced. Dont you think you have to show him what you guys are capable of?

Unfortunately stuff like this happens but this is hardly worth going to court on imho.

One of the big problems with America is that people are willing to go to court over anything these days. It is also expensive and time consuming and depending on what the situation is you could lose even more time and money from a counter-sue. Its just not a good idea unless it caused a big issue for you in customers, money, time or business in general and you have concrete evidence so that you are 100% its a quick close case.

I think the suggestion of going to court on something like this is a bit ridiculous. Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of this business however.

I also find it very unlikely that they would just do such a thing due to the knowledge of young or inexperienced individuals running the show on the other side. That just makes no sense, I mean think about it Sarathy. In the end they are another business and the bottom line is to make your customers happy, because when they are happy you make money. If they are not happy, you will make less if any money and your reputation will carry along with them in a not-so-positive manner. I think it was just a bad miscommunication and a possible failure by whoever was in charge of what they were dealing with in the end.

For a small matter like this, maybe it's not worth it going thru all the hassle of sueing the company..I don't think the court will attend also ahaks..But if it involves a large amount of losses, yes, court is one of the solutions to make these kind of people pay for their unethical behavior in business..

Our previous P/O to this manufacturer (before the case mentioned above) was using the old pricing..We had confirmed the pricing before they send us the goods..Later we received a statement that we owed them six bucks for that particular P/O..How come they confirmed the pricing then & later said that the pricing has been changed, right? If it's confirmed, means it's confirmed..They can't just simply change them after they already agreed with the pricing..Is this the way we do business? I don't think so..

It doesn't matter if we are young & inexperienced but the respect should be there as businessman or businesswoman..
