Does anyone else think that sounds like heroin?
rejoice: I was thinking about getting in on that... but after the failure that was Pimp Juice on the market here
There are too many energy drinks on the market here, so I'm thinking that maybe something like micro-branding would be a better way to go. Y'know, invest in the blank cans, and then relabel them for individual promotions like you can get with water bottles.

lol... only on heroin i'd say you'd be too wasted to tell anyone about it... unless you're telling them why they are being robbed at gunpoint lol
energy drinks as promotional products? never seen labels on cans as the image is usually printed onto the can which would make it somewhat difficult

Ever heard of Mona Vie? This sounds exactly like it. A new get rich quick scheme. And the only people that actually get rich quick are maybe the top 5 people.
These products never last with marketing methods like this. Now I am not positive but my best guess would say that companies like Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar, etc were all started by a small group of people who went out and sold their items to reputable stores such as 7-11, Walgreens, etc... They didn't ask thousands of random people to try and sell it for them.
My suggestion on this would be to stay away.

funny you say that as Verve has a retail program and a vending machine program... La Costa Resort and Spa, located in Carlsbad, California, has selected Verve as a healthy energy drink option for their guests... Verve is the official energy drink of the Native American Basketball Invitational (NABI), the largest all Native American Basketball Invitational in North America... Verve is now the official energy drink of the Arena Football League's L.A. Avengers!... Verve is the official energy drink of the Phoenix Suns (NBA), Phoenix Mercury (WNBA) and the Phoenix Roadrunners (ECHL Hockey).

WEll, labelling blanks can be done in two ways:
You can get a printer that will print to rounded surfaces, like how they print on mugs. So directly printing on the cans is possible, although probably more expensive than the other option.
The other option being to print on a shrink wrapped layer that then gets heat applied to a can and won't come off short of cutting it off... like on a softdrink bottle. I've seen a few novelty products like that.
But yeah, back to your thing... If you're selling on the Australian market, have you thought about getting in touch with Campbell's Cash n Carry?
They basically buy in bulk to sell at warehouse prices to independent traders. If you can keep your costs down so they can sell around $1.50 per unit, you'll be undercutting nearly all the other energy drinks that they sell, so you'll get a LOT of night clubs & corner stores taking it. Maybe try and get some instore promotional material at CC&C, like "Rhino" are doing.
Gets attention from business owners, and when you've got maybe 200 different businesses in a city stocking it (CC&C give basic purchasing information to suppliers, I'm told) you can use that as leverage to take it to a supermarket chain like IGA.

with the printing methods they use, impossible to print directly on the cans as they will melt... mugs go through an extremely hot kiln and other printing processes would look tacky and either melt or squash the can... a no go zone... i used to be a top salesman for promotional merchandise and had to deal with the suppliers, decoraters, and blue chip clients so i know how it all works... shrink wrap could work and might look okay... haven't seen it on cans though
campbells cash and carry is actually a great idea and one i haven't done anything about yet... we have a sponsorhip deal with Procon Leisure International - Promotions | Event Management for all off their events in 2009 and are looking to ad more deals like that to access clubs and pubs and the 'in crowd'... funny you mention rhino as my office was right next to theirs and i secured an account with them... they actually ran a great deal for their clubs when they started, matching each purchase (so if i buy a crate they throw in a crate for free)... they did have some trouble though because it tastes like red bull the clubs sold vodka red bulls for cheap but used rhino instead lol
thanks for the campbells tip as I'm surely going to pursue that... or pass it on to someone in the team that wants a bit off a challenge!
