Smile Done before, or something new?

    Hey,

I'm looking for feedback on investinpixels dot com - Has this been done before (milliondollarhomepage) or is it sleek, cool and innovative enough to be a success? Please vote!

Ps: This website has many features including the ability to re-sell pixels .

    Regards

I think it's a great idea. And you have a very simplistic site design which is easy to follow!

I think the best part of the site is having other people purchase existing space. As your site becomes more popular, the space should gain in value. I hope your own revenue system accounts for the increased popularity of the site so that your revenues can increase as the ad space increases in value.

Is there a minimum time that someones ad will show before being bought out? I would hate it if I paid for ad space and then 15 minutes later someone bought out my space and I only made a .3% return or no return at all.

    Hey there,

Basically, using your account which you sign upto, you have to list the advert for re-sale yourself. Therefore you can choose when you want to sell it, and you can choose your own price .

    Hey there!

Thanks for you answer - unfortunately we have to disagree to agree though, because this isn't some childish 'gaming forum' or silly 'microblogging'. This is a real investment, besides, if you're not happy with the pixels, you could always sell them back.

hahah my confused friend..let me educate you on the realities of consumer internet

the two most successful consumer internet companies of 09 have been both a microblogging and a social gaming website (twitter, zynga..one is going for an ipo, the other has a billion dollar valuation)....these companies in tern have indirectly made successful hundreds of other entrepreneurs who too have started businesses in these categories...in the same way that when mdhp went viral, hundreds of other websites made money selling pixels on the back of mdhp's success

i don't see why you post here asking for feedback when you can't get it into your mind that consumer internet works on trends and fashion...and what you're doing is waaaay out of fashion..bloody hell, like, what you're asking is a simple question. it's fricken obvious what the correct answer is. it's beyond argument. be smart and follow the current trends.

    side note:
am i the only one who gets irritated by entrepreneurs picking bad opportunities when can just as easily pick good ones?

You yourself have just stated a bad reason for microblogging - There are ALREADY billion dollar companies. Did you know that over 86% of microblogging sites have failed this year due to an overwhelming and tough market? If you want failure, I suggest you do that.

And if you do want to do that, it takes years before you can build up something worthwhile as you'd be getting new users at 0.000000' the rate billion dollar companies are.

But I guess we have to disagree to agree. I'll prove you all wrong

    ) oookey it's your dime
can't say i follow how you do your opportunity selection...but you've got a hellovalot confirmation bias that's for sure
and so, really u're only looking for encouragement right?
errhh..man good lord i hope you haven't spent a whole bunch of money on programming...did you survey the market when you started making this thing? have you found anybody who's gonna pay for the product?
damn..and you sound like a good entrepreneur too!..i just can't understand why you don't like critiquing your own decisions...aren't you interested whether you may be wrong?!?

i tell you, things don't have to be so hard...it's simple: follow current trends, survey customers, take prepayments, then build your product and things go well...but spending all this time and money and then being in a position that you can't walk away because you've now gotta prove your self right - it's a tough gig...especially if you've convinced others to follow your thing

i just want the best outcomes for our members and it's disappointing when founders simply refuse to go by the textbook and instead make all the same stuff ups over and over again..sigh

I'm afraid that I'm gonna have to be negative sorry.

For your site to succeed, you need traffic and lots of it, otherwise people are not going to "invest" in your pixels.

The only reason that 1milliondollarhomepage had any success was that it was new and quirky.
He had to get his friends and relatives to buy pixels to start with, and then he spent the $1000 that they bought all in pr. People went to have a look at the site, and then never went back.

Reselling the pixel admittedly does mean that there may be the occasional change in content, but its not gonna bring people back

    Hey,

Thanks for your feedback - soon we'll be adding more to the website, so there's a reason to come back. Also with our comment system we'll hope that people visit it to find an advert for a type of product they'll want to purchase and view the ratings, comments etc.

Our main goal so far has been traffic, and we're getting good numbers in a short space of time.
