Exclamation Does Article Marketing Really Work?

I just received an interesting e-mail from one of my clients. She wrote that she had tried article marketing like I had suggested, and it didn't work for her. I e-mailed her back, and asked how many articles she had written. She replied that she had written five articles over a six month period, and hadn't received any traffic from those articles.

Because of those results, she erroneously concluded that article marketing didn't work. So the question is Does Article Marketing Really Work?

My friends, I've written dozens of articles that have been published on dozens of websites all over the Internet. And I can unequivocally assure you, if you do it correctly, article marketing not only works, it works exceedingly well.

But again, you have to do it correctly.

So what's the correct way to do article marketing? First of all, instead of submitting only to article directories, that will publish anything, and where your articles get buried among thousands of other articles...try submitting to respected authority sites like SiteProNews, WebProNews, PromotionWorld and others.

Authority sites have huge, loyal readership. And if published, your articles have a legitimate chance to be seen by tens of thousands of people. Second, you can't write one article per month and expect it to make a significant difference in the amount of traffic, and inbound links you receive.

In order for article marketing to impact your traffic, you have to write many articles, consistently, over time. How many? You should strive to write a minimum of one article per week. That's the absolute minimum. Two articles per week, or more is preferable. That means you have to be committed to article marketing, or it simply will not work.

That's where my aforementioned client made her mistake. She basically wrote one article per month. That's simply not enough articles to make an impact.

I should also mention that the authority sites I previously mentioned are extremely particular about the quality of the articles they publish. After all, your article is a reflection of them. That means they don't accept just anything that is submitted to them, unlike most article directories.

So if you expect your articles to get published by authority sites, you'll need to up your game, and improve the quality of your writing.

Don't worry, you'll always have article directories to fall back on. But you should definitely strive to get your articles published by authority sites first. It really does make a difference - not only in the amount of traffic that you'll receive, but also in the way people view your articles.

Like I said earlier, authority sites are generally very well-respected, and if they publish your articles, you'll inherit some of that respect - which can lead to more quality websites linking to your site.

Just writing an article does you no good. You need to them market the article so people will find it. Each month there are 90 articles listed on my sites blogs Donate A Car | Charity Dispatch | Donate Used Car then each of those articles are socially bookmarked to 125 different social bookmarks. This is how articles have value. If they only did 5 in six months then they never really tried.

Make sure that all information you need is included on your campaign. Otherwise it'll be just among of those junk articles available on the net.

Roger, you're exactly right. You do indeed have to market your articles. Writing the article is only the first step in the article marketing process.

It's not all in the promotion to the readers. When you put a link to an article you are building your site's reputation, thus easier to be found on search engines.
It's all about what you want to achieve

That depends on where your articles are published. If only crappy sites publish your articles and link to your site, you aren't building your site's repuation - just the opposite.

That's why it's so important to write quality content that quality websites will want to publish and link to. That's how you build your site's reputation.

I'm not talking about article directories. I really could care less about links from article directories. Heck, they link to everybody.

I was referring to links from websites that have some relevancy to your site, and link to you because of your content.

This is a much better post than the one where you were discouragin people from getting involved in article marketing.

I agree, 1 article a month isn't going to cut it. Thanks for the information about authority sites. I had never tried that before. I'll give it a shot.

Hi all, yet another topic we'll cover in an upcoming webinar. Many interesting points in this forum exchange. My experience is that it's like any other marketing. You have to be diligent, consistent and seek to do it well. I have found that the title is most important to attracting the views and of course helping bring in targeted traffic. I look at it as yet another tool in the toolbox. Like twitter and facebook they are not some magic be all and end all answer but in conjunction with other pieces of the puzzle they work.

    Godspeed

Help me!!!! Look...I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and working my way with the internet.

I've been on the Discovery Channel with my invention, Popular Mechanics did an article as well as many many medias and alot in other countries.

Could someone tell me what they recommend for increasing exposure on the net? I think I may be the perfect fit for article marketing too. If you search Handi-Straps or my name you will see all the articles I worked VERY hard to get. Am I wasting my time? Is article marketing as you say here the way to get to the "higher places" of exposure? Maybe I should start with article marketing and that can lead to magazine and maybe TV appearances eventually?

See...you young guys are SHARP! You may be one step ahead of all the publicists out there doing things like I am for my product...old school.

Thanks if anyone has any suggestions....also, can I submit articles already written? There are some good ones and they are a "second party" endorsement so they are more believable. Thanks...have a nice day!

Ron, article marketing is not the way to go in your case, because your product needs to be demonstrated. You need to hire a good marketing consultant. Here's some free advice:

Make a video of yourself demonstrating your product, and put it on youtube. That's what I would do.

exactly link that video back to your main site from youtube I would also use social marketing on your end as well .....refer back to the article they wrote on you using digg or stumbleupon and you'll be sure to get some extra exposure..

Thanks...I keep hearing about the video. I had it in my head that I wanted to show the demo live on a TV show or news and not for them to put the video on and not me in person.

There are videos on You Tube now from the Discovery Channel with me and Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan demonstrating the product. The product name is mentioned and in writing so a simple search can be done.

I will be posting videos very shortly on my website.

Thanks for the advice!!!! I really value all the "new tricks" that people can learn here. I have learned MUCH here.
