    Contest Sponsorships

So I've decided to get ready and run my first contest. Only issue is that I need help with contest sponsorships. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can find sponsors for the contest and what kind of incentives to offer them for their help and participation in offering prizes?

This sounds like an idea worth pursuing!

I've often thought why not organize a songwriting contest for all the songwriters in my area? Or, better yet, use the Internet and start one on a national basis! Let's say I collected 250 entries at $10 a pop... that's $2,500. Even if I offered up $500 in prizes, I still walk away with $2,000!

(Maybe even get local songwriting clubs, music stores, etc., to help with the advertising and even contribute to the prize offerings.)

Let us know how that works out for you!

All money you make from doing contests should be donated to charity I think, or given back to the people who put the money into the contest. I don't think you have any right to take money from other people, to give that same money away as a prize to 1 person, then take the other 75% of that money as your own. That's horrible! I would punch you in your face if I entered your contest and knew you were doing that.

well first I think you need to have a "theme" to the contest. Once you know what type of people are most likely to enter your contest you can than look for sponsors and prizes that would appeal to them. Like if it was a writing contest you could get gift certificates to book stores, or coffee shops etc.

You can PM me. I may interested in donating some prizes if the contest appeals to me.

I'm assuming your talking to Brian like that, NOT me. And in any manner, it would've been his contest, so why should you worry about it? Just my .02 cents, but on top of that... maybe you should stay on the "original" topic of what I asked for instead of talking about assaulting somebody.

Like I said, you were talking to Brian like that, def. not me.

Mostly what I'd do is find people who do charity in those areas. Companies who would like advertising. You're either donating something in their name, or advertising with the intent that their name gets out everywhere.

You'd be surprised who wants to be heard of or advertised for, or if it's for a good cause, could claim it for charity writeoff.
