So I assume that you have access to the products which you will be reviewing?

Or maybe products will be reviewed based on their specs, i.e.

    256 DDR
    P4 3 GHz
    80GB

    etc.

Basically you actually need to test the products and write a review about them. It is a great opportunity to get your work out on the internet.

I'll give you an idea... focus the business/website on consumer reviews!

So allow anyone the ability to post a comment about a particular product and rate it etc. If you can setup the whole system so it's easy to add a comment/review and accurate to find out which products are best for what solutions and at a certain price... then you will probably become bigger than the reviewers such as PC Mag etc.

Oh and make sure the whole website stays based around the community... avoid at all costs being persuaded by the big manufacturers to put good reviews up or remove bad ones. I'm sure PC Mag and others are swayed by corporate big guys to write good reviews.

    cheers

But i dont want the site to be made so that people can actively comment on it and write reviews. I want to write the reviews that are non-biased and state my opinion. I dont want other people doing it.

    OK, you lose

Think about it. If you were looking for a review of a computer product, would you rather:

    A) Get a single review from a little-known website (i.e. what your site will be when first launched)
    B) Get an opinion from a large group of people where a general consensus of a product can be determined through a voting and feedback system

If you take option A (which I think is the worst), then you're up against the big guys like PC Mag, Toms Hardware (which everyone knows is biased towards Intel since they sponsor them), Anandtech etc etc etc

Whereas if you created a community-centred site then you may actually have a chance of becoming bigger than these guys.

But heh, if you don't do it, either I or someone else will... so make up your mind and act fast.

    cheers

Yeah Nathan has a good point and I like his idea. If people want expert reviews, they go to CNET. CNET dominates that niche.

If they want actual customer reviews, less people would probably already have a site in mind. I personally would search online, which is where you can advertise on google, or elsewhere, and fill that niche.

I would like to actually take nado's advice and make my site a site of consumer reviews. I never thought of it in that perspective. Thank you for that advice. Now that I know what I'm going to do, the real question is how do I go about doing it?

Yeah I like Nado's idea here as well. Like he said, get a coder, if you need help with your site design, I would be willing to help you out free of charge.
