Can I get some feedback on a logo please?

    Hi

I have a new project under way and have just got a mascot for it. I'd be grateful if you took a look and gave me some feedback.

The project is StreetArtNews.net and I think the mascot fits in with this nicely as it is a fox and that is quite urban and city.

The problem that I had was that while the mascot itself is brilliant I don't think there is enough branding on the actual mascot. I was thinking, and maybe a T Shirt on the mascot would be a good idea. So I quickly stuck a few different versions on to see what they would look like.

    What do you think?

    Plain Mascot I Received
Mascot with just a plain T Shirt

With these three there are just some different colours with the website name on:
    T shirt + Writing
    T Shirt + Writing
    T Shirt + Writing

What do you think? Plain? Plain T Shirt? T Shirt with writing?

    Thanks,
    Sophie

P.S I wasn't sure where to post this...

For such a design-oriented market, I would probably try to spend a bit on the logo. It really has to be "top-notch" as someone enjoying streetart would most probably be fast to look at your logo and its design.

It will be easier to get them interested in your site, if you impress them in their favourite subject first.

I just "quickly" did the T Shirts to get a general feeling. They will go back to the designer when I have decided on which one.

Yeah, I understand. I meant something a bit more "breath-taking". There are plenty of talented designers out there who could create something amazing for you. Your logo will be a big part of your website.

I would say that it is an okay start but there are a few things you may want to change:

    1. Why is he staring at me ... it is kind of creepy. Maybe give more of an isometric view?
    2. Show him from the side painting on a wall? What about a can of spray paint i.e. grafitti?
    3. You can also get an "artsy" logo pretty easily through photography. Go take some neat street scenes with lots of lines. Convert it using your favorite software (gimp, photoshop, etc) to a B&W line drawing.

This is a bad example but all I could find in 10s or less: www_globalshareware_com/productImg/Multimedia-Design/Illustration/PhotoS/PhotoScreenshot.gif
*replace _ with . of course*

    4. If you're going to print text on the mascots t-shirt, it will be difficult to see it no matter what you do. You may want to try something different like him "walking" on the text. A couple of hours with a designer will go a long way to creating the branding of your company. I would not recommend hiring a company like logoloft.com. I used them for a now dissolved company with very poor results. You need an honest to good passionate artist.

I agree with what Nordstrom said.

I like the "street art news" design better than the fox, truth.

The mascot should be doing something, not just standing there and staring at you. Maybe he should be painting on something, or spraying , maybe put some big brush stokes or paw prints.

Well, I like it very much and even should make some critical statements towards it. Well done!

I do believe something is missing in the logo. Shirt looks better than no shirt tho.

i like the painting idea but street art news on the shirt isnt bold enough. Perhaps you could have Street Art News painted above him or on the side with dripping paint so it would show that he had just painted it. Just an idea, also I signed up with my email cause I love street art. If its allowed I would like to post some of the pictures that I have taken in the city here in Sacramento of street art.
