Caffeinated Doughnuts

Brilliant! Can't beleive I didn't think of this!! 'Doh

This is so far afield from a typical post that I don't have a category for it: caffeinated doughnuts have just been patented, and the inventor is negotiating with Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, etc. to get these sugary, bright-eyed treats onto the desks of sleep-deprived startups everywhere. There's also a brief NY Times announcement. Apparently, the big deal was to get out (or mask) the bitter taste of caffeine.

I wouldn't be so quick to label the idea "brilliant" just yet. As always, the buying public will have the final say so.

I rarely eat donuts and now that it has caffeine, I definitely won't be eating them.

A little off topic, but how many of us are coffee drinkers? Too many. Every morning I wake up and have a cup of coffee and a protein shake. Just the other day, I put protein powder in my coffee. Delicious! My roommate who is a barista (and thinks my protein shakes are disgusting) even found the combination to be really good. I've only experimented with one flavor, but I have a feeling this has potential. A healthy cup of coffee packet with vitamins, minerals, and 32g of protein. What do you think?

Seems very easily made at home. But then again, so are protein shakes and those are sold premade

I was referring to a premade powder additive specifically for coffee, much like a pouch of creamer, but protein based. Just an idea...

Not much of a doughnut eater, a caffeinated doughnut doesn't sound good to me.

Protein Powder for coffee, hmm.... I don't know about this, most coffee drinkers I know don't drink protein too. I take protein but am not a coffee drinker. So it depends on how big the market is. How many people drink coffee and protein? From my own view, I wouldn't say to many, but I could be completely wrong.

I love eating donut but I don't like to drink coffee...hehe

Coffee makes me feel dizzy so I guess I'll just stick with my regular donut.

I just use my Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein, cookies and cream flavor. I just thought there might be a market for a coffee specific protein powder.
