Better way to start a business

I know there is room for debate on both sides of this question. What do you think is a better way to go when starting your own business, something you love to do? Or something that will make you money?

Example: just came over this while reading a post so ill use what made me think of it. The poster said that the largest demographic at a mall was woman between 30-60, so he suggested selling scrapbooking material and stuff that would interest the majority of custormer.

Or would you rather start something having to do with sports if you are really into sports?

Would like to hear what you guys think, passion, or a better chance at money?

I've always made money by doing things that interest me (at least initially) or things that I passionately love. Therefore this opinion will be a bit bias at this point but I would never do something I didn't greatly enjoy. However I wouldn't do something blindly either. I would make sure in my mind there was some way for it to be of great value. There's nothing wrong with doing something you love and would make money at the same time. Bluntly put, I would never just do something to make money at the cost not hating what I do or not enjoying it.

I may sound as if I am contradictng myself here but hopefully you understand what I mean. I do believe that you should pursue what you are most passionate about, but I would start with the venture that has the most potential to make money. Personally, entrepreneurship is what I am most passionate about. Seeing an idea that was concieved in your mind grow into something that is accepted by the consumers, providing for my family and friends, brings me great satisfaction. If what you are passionate about has the most potential, then even better, but if you are looking into pursuing something else that you may not be as passionate about but confidently believe the potential and have done your research to support your theory, then that is where I would start. Once business is established and revenue has lived up to the potential, you can now begin to invest in what it is you are passionate about. If not another business, now you have the money to do the things that you enjoy most.

    Hi,

If I were you I would write down 3 things that I am most passionate about. Then do some research to get more great ideas.
    After that I'd start experimenting.
Your goal is to move forward 1 mm every single day.

In conclusion I am definitely for doing the things you care about and have a lot of fun doing then.

Well if you start something that does not interest you, chances are you will lose interest or you won't take the business to its true potential.
