    Bartering Clubs

Does anybody here have any experience in bartering clubs? I'm not really interested in it for the money... I think it would be a cool thing for the community.

I've read a little bit about bartering clubs. They say a good trick to use is 1/2 cash 1/2 barter credit because like kbud says cash is still king. But, many members of the barter club will do extra traveling just to buy from another club member, so it can bring more exposure/customers. And like you said, it would be cool for community...in a nutshell this means you are going to make business contacts.

I read a story of a consultant that made a deal with a tire company which didn't quite have enough cash for some consulting work. Evidently, he ended up with an office full of tires.

The consultant then took the brand new tires to a barter club who then sold the tires to the club members for him. The consulant received barter credits in exchange for his new tires and promptly bought brand new office furniture with his barter credits.
